It's 11:00 on the East Coast of Carolina and coming down in buckets. I have a funny feeling the Outlaw race in Maryland is gonna get called on account of not enough sun.
Anyone care to report where it's NOT raining this weekend? Anyone getting any face time with cones?

Yeah, Rick, how about an update on this spot? Any bulldozers parked in the weeds? Empty soda cans denoting construction workers around during the day? Or are we going to get real lucky and the developer is going to go bankrupt and leave it all as is for a couple of years while the courts settle the financing?
Oh, if we could only get so lucky!

Nah, those little plastic "fences" look like construction is either underway or will start shortly.
Construction giveth and construction taketh away. My first spot, found about a year ago and set up with painted dots every two feet to aid in course setting, was recently bulldozed. Seems a little field with an asphalt strip where kids played, families rode bikes, folks flew airplanes and kites, and a couple of old geezers practiced slalom is less important than a new batch of cookie-cutter townhouses. Of course all this construction means that less than a quarter mile away is a new spur off a relatively new main road through the development that goes...nowhere! Beautiful smooth asphalt, mellow grade, zero traffic. Perfect practice spot...for now. The trucks are already rolling through on weekdays...the development it feeds will be built and populated in 6 months.
Our "outlaw" spot, an overpass under construction, is the latest gift from the construction industry. Sod has just been laid all around the site, so there can't be much time left. But just yesterday I noticed a new overpass being built much closer to my house. Soon it will be paved and ready to skate...for a while. Construction giveth, and construction taketh away. I used to hate development, now I can see one bright spot in it.

yeah it won't be long till houses go under construction (though they are all "custom builds" as opposed to "spec houses" so that may buy me some time) and then the mud will ruin the hill for years to come (red clay giveth, red clay taketh away........heh heh)

that was training for st. louis, next week we go back and train for breckenridge on the upper section

Beautiful hill Rick!
It wasn't raining here either. Clifton, Josh, Will, Joseph and myself got out Sunday and hit some very tight, near flat, perfect surface courses at a local softball complex parking lot. Had several spectators, some of which were at the LSJ. They'd heard we were skating and came out to watch practice. Cool!
Enough of that flat stuff. Need to be training for the hills of Breck.
Are there any pictures of the St. Louis venue?

Stanziale - I'm coming up to practice on that hill. You'll be home the weekend after the Gathering, right?? If your not going to MD., let me know and I'll drive up this weekend.....or hell, I might drive up this weekend anyway....directions??

hey mang.
that hill is STEEP.
I was "snowboarding" down the upper part, 4-wheel drift slides backside, frontside...until I got where I felt comfy letting it go. I guess that's where rick clicked the pic. I estimate I was hitting mid-30s when he snapped the pic...I think I'm ready to bomb it straight down soon...it rolls down and ends in a cul-de-sack. We'll have the hill for awhile yet, I am sure.
Tom's coming up this weekend, it's gonna be a stone groove y'all!
maybe even a banked slalom at Junior's ditch?...or that might be too fast for youze guys...heh heh heh
