We are planning a great event for Luna! Rooms have been held for our group at the Drury Inn & Suites Jackson, MS.

To make reservations, please click on the link below.

https://reservations.druryhotels.com/Gr ... No=2004146

The hotel offers great amenities, such as:

· FREE! HOT! QUIKSTART ® Breakfast- Enjoy scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, Belgian waffles & more!

· FREE! Evening Beverages and Snacks now served daily from 5:30-7:00pm

· FREE! High-Speed Internet Access in Every Room

· FREE! NEW! Free Long Distance - One Hour Every Room, Every Night!

Please make your reservations by Tuesday, April 17, 2007 to receive our group rate. Reservations made after this date will be subject to prevailing rate and availability.

I am also checking on the Studio 6 this weekend, where Mr. Wesley Tucker has stayed for three years. I haven't been there myself so I am going to go look at it and I will post up the info at a later date. If you wanted a kitchen and a clean, inexpensive room all to yourself, this may be your best bet.

The Drury is giving the group rate for the whole weekend, in case anyone would need to stay Sunday night, though you all need to keep in mind we're camping out at Uncle Cliffy's on Saturday night so bring whatever tents/sleeping bags/pillows you'll need. I will have Off! and an electronic mosquito repellant... If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me or Ricky. :) I'll help you out any way that I can.

Freakin' Daggette, ya'll. [/url]

$74 per night is right, unless you want to shack up at the Studio 6, where Wes T. stays. check them out here:

http://www.staystudio6.com/

They have rooms for $49 per night, they're clean, safe, checked them out this weekend, though I didn't ask them for a group rate, if a bunch of folks decide they want to stay there I will talk to them about it. It is extended stay, which never would have crossed my mind for one weekend. But hey- thanks again WT.

How big is the Half Pipe? Any pics?
I'm looking forward to this event!!

The halfpipe is a 20' diameter (10' radius), no flat, 8' tall, with a 4' wide roll in on one side. Concrete coping. Sorry no pictures yet.

Plan on staying the night at Clifton's Saturday night. The drive home is not bad but we dig having everyone safely at Clifton's. If you are driving in bring sleeping bags, tents or whatever. If your flying we've got you covered.

Luna Slalom Jam 2007 is only a few days away. We are really looking forward to this one, our fifth. It's going to be good to see old friends and new ones as well. This year will be interesting.

I'd like to thank our sponsors for this event. Guys like Foiled Concepts Longboards, Pocket Pistol Skates, Radikal Pro Racing Trucks, Pleasure Tool Bearings, ChiXill Skateboards, Sk8Kings, RoeRacing Skateboards, Gravity Skateboards, Concrete Wave Magazine, Fullbag Skateboards, the ASSA, and our local guys, Doc*36 Skatepark, Swell-o-phonic Skateshop, SkateMS.com, Pearl River Valley Water Supply District and the City of Ridgeland.

One sponsor I'd like to single out is Chicken and Pocket Pistol Skateboards. Chicken has sponsored our Friday night outlaw race for the past three years and has once again stepped up. We appreciate your continued support of our scene. The Pocket Pistol Skates Blood, Guts and Glory Slalomcross is on. We laid out the course this past weekend and it is going to be fun. The course starts out with five 8' cones to pump up speed, then the courses combine, through five fast widely spaced flowing cones, then a 90 degree left hand turn, back into individual courses to the finish with plenty of pump room to regain a lost lead. We start at 5:00pm straight up so be there early. We can only take the first 32 to sign up.

Another sponsor we are honored to have is our good friends at Foiled Concepts Longboards. Gabe & Sarah Steptoe of Ocean Springs, MS started this company out of the rubble of hurricane katrina. You may have met Gabe as he has traveled a lot this past year working hard to get his art in your hands. Believe me when I say his work is beautiful. Gabe has offered to create some one of a kind trophys for our event. I've seen them, they are awesome. We may have to ship them to the winners. Yea... If you are in the market for a high end longboard, speedboard, slalomboard, skimboard made from exotic woods, custom hand shaped, please talk to Gabe before you buy. Foiledconcepts.com

The halfpipe for Saturday nights after party is complete. Clifton Jennings has built an old school, no flat, pipe section, 8' tall, 16' wide, 20' dia. Pool coping on one side, steel on the other just for this LSJ after party. Of course, they'll be boiled Crawfish and shrimp, boudin sausage, the good stuff. Clifton's place is in the country as you may have guessed. Come prepared to spend the night.

I understand the same videographer that filmed DHB Grudge Race and Red Clay 2006 will be shooting the entire weekend. Look for Dave on the hill to get you a copy, unless you don't want proof of your actions.

Please email or call with any questions. We look forward to seeing everyone. Travel safe.

We are accepting pre-paid $40 entry fees at this time at rickyDOTbyrdATcomcastDOTnet

it was epic ya'll. epic.

The Byrds just out-do themselves every year, simply put. The Saturday night party at Uncle Cliffy's- the ramp, the food, the atmosphere, 4-wheelers through the woods, the half pipe, the bonfire, the fireworks-

Roadkill Racing - Only the stout-hearted need apply. These guys have my respect and love.

I'm glad everyone that made it was there, there were lots of new exciting faces, but definately some old favorites missing from the crowd.

YOU WERE MISSED.

Another Luna Slalom Jam is in the books, the fifth LSJ. I must say it was one of the best. We had a great time with old friends and met many new ones. We had several that couldn’t make it for one reason or another and believe me, we missed you. Sorry you couldn’t be there.

I can’t say enough about our sponsors this year. You guys are great. Foiled Concepts’ owner Gabe Steptoe made the trophies for the event. Hand carved, hand painted surfboard shaped beauties. How many times has the actual trophy itself been what is on the mind of the racer on the start ramp in the consi round, “Will I score one of those trophies or not”. They were that cool. Thanks Gabe and Sarah. I’d also like to thank ChiXill, Fullbag, Pleasure Tool, Gravity, Sk8King, Radikal Trucks, Roe Racing, Concrete Wave, ASSA, Doc*36, Swell-o-phonic, SkateMS.com, Road Kill Racing, The Ross Barnett Rez and the City of Ridgeland and of course PPS.

Chicken, we did you proud in the Pocket Pistol Blood, Guts and Glory Slalomcross on Friday night. It went really well and everyone had a new experience on their slalom boards. There were several close races and a few close calls (Josh and Evan for one), but overall it was a safe event only a little bloodshed. We had no disputes on rules, no intentional elbows in the mouth, nothing like that at all; just close racing and big smiles. Josh Byrd was able to get out in front for the win in the “A”group and Harms fought his way to a win in the “B”. Slalomcross is coming, get ready. Thanks to FCR for the idea.

Thanks to all the racers and family and friends thereof who made it to the race and the festivities afterward. It was all a great time. People like Eric Sanders and the Bama boys, Texas Outlaws from all parts, and it was good to have the DHB crew there. People like these are what make it all what it is. One group that has raced with us since before Luna is the STL Daggers. We were so glad to have Harms, Graf and Buckles, but missed our good friends Chainsaw, Seeger and of course Go-Go Goad. We were thinking of you all weekend. We missed you guys.

The ramp jam at Clifton’s was sick. So sick in fact I threw up…twice. Gumby, Harms, Frank, Tate, Lou , etc. ripped it down big time, inverts, deep front side and back side rocks, you name it. The pool coping was broken in well before the night fell. With flood lights on, it continued well into the night. I hope everyone got plenty to eat and drink. Thank Foiled Concepts for those huge fresh gulf shrimp… awesome. We had a blast. Thanks for coming.

Congratulations to all the winners. Keith performs with the precision of a machine once again to repeat his win from last year. Josh, Harms and Evan were no easy opponents; no one gave anything away without a fight. With a stiff .2 cone penalty and a brutal 3X false start penalty you had to be on your game or pay the price as many did. We wanted to have a women’s race but before I knew it we had moved on to awards. Sorry girls, I wanted to see a Sarah Byrd / Stephanie St. Clair match-up. Again, sorry for that, we’ll plan on it next time. Evan St.Clair holds the honor of fastest time of the day at 15.033 set in the round of four against Harms. Harms advanced in that round anyway winning by only .044.

Thanks to all our local support that I could not do this without like my wife Lisa, my brother Wally, my high school buddy Andy, Frank Henn, Andrew Eure Marcos OG TX Outlaw for the use of his switches, flawless and of course Clifton Jennings for his fun and laughter through the years.

Here’s the duals results:

At first glance you'd think Gorilla buscuits gave Lou Statman, both of Texas, a good intentional shove but if you look closely Lou actually pumped hard and knocked GB's board right out from under him. Good clean fun! Double DQ...
