DC 2003 SUMMER OUTLAW SLALOM SERIES
Moderators: Jonathan Harms, Ron Barbagallo, Lynn Kramer, Maria Carrasco, Russel Cantor, Brian Parsons
Brian, racing you was definately the highlight of my three days of racing. I had to leave everything I had on the course to beat you. I loved the White course and knew if I could run as clean and fast as possible I might just do it. I just curled up in a ball at the top when we read the results. I didn't know I only hit one cone. I truly enjoy racing with you and against you. We both have some work to do though. I owe a few guys that are up on top and wouldn't mind if you helped me take em down. Thanks for bringing the best out in me. You are always a threat. Until the next Battle...you rule!

Hey shiznats-
I'll be in Alexandria this weekend visiting a friend. She has an SAT Saturday morning and would like to see me slalom when she gets done.
How can I get to Gaithersburg? I am 3 miles from the nearest Metro stop. Tell me what to take and when. Somebody can pick me up, I'm trying to save my friend's parents from driving me. I'll pack my Mini Carrera. Let's make it happen.

Outlaw race is ON in DC this weekend at the Park and Ride in Gaithersburg.
Longboard slalom practice will start at 10am.
Expect a format simmilar to the last race.
Box start.
Expect the course to be a little more hybrid. Just trying to mix it up a bit.
Just so you know, I am racing tomorrow, so someone is going to have to step off the podium to make room.
If anyone needs directions drop me an email.

Wes,
Apparently, unlike most of us, Curt actually leads a meaningful life, which means he can't always make the races. Good for me, since he and some of the other really fast guys weren't there today, and despite my severely lacking practice, i managed a 2nd and a 3rd.
Brian will be posting full results soon.
Oh yeah, I rode a G&S Pintail and a BOZI with 3dm wheels in the longboard race and a Turner GS/H with a Seismic and a Chicken offset and Abec 11 wheels in the Slalom.
In case you were wondering

hellow everyone,
I am now the proud manufacturer of my very own 30" x 8.25" x 5/8" slalom deck, (20-18" variable wheelbase) thanks to slappy's very very kind loan of some indys, and engineering tips from Plankk-R and WesE. Thank you v. much Wes, Slappy and Vlad!
The question is--the forecast for this weekend is good. Will there be an outlaw race, or am I dreaming that the 16th is the next race?
Going to go practice with my beer cups now,
cheers,
Rene.

DC Summer Outlaw Series Race #3
Another DC Summer series outlaw race is scheduled this weekend at the P&R is Gaithersburg. Like usual about a 30% chance of rain.
Long board practice will start at 10am sharp, racing at 10:45. Traditional slalom practice will start at noon.
I want to throw something different at you guys this weekend I just haven’t figured out what it will be.
If anyone needs directions send me an email. I am expecting a large group this weekend so everyone should be ready for some major competition. WesE is hungry for some respect. Look for him to be driving for a podium finish. Noah and UR13 are hopefully making the trip down. Ohm is always a threat. LBK, GeezerX and PADan are always looking to break to top three. KMG has finished well is every race and is third in the points. Since some of the top guys have missed one of the last two races the point’s game is close. No one yet has a lock on the series. LBK’s respectable finished in the last two races has him currently holding down the top spot in open slalom.
Vlad is away this weekend racing in Moscow so Noah is clearly the favorite followed by UR13 and Ohm.

1.Vlad Popov 200

Hey all!
Thanks a lot for a great time--yet again. I had a lot of serious fun on the new deck, and thanks a mil to slappy and kmg for the trucks and wheels so I could practice proper slalom.
I'll wait for Brian's synopsis, but I have to say the racing was pretty exciting this time around. Hope the A bracket managed to finish before the storms got there.
Thanks Brian and all!

I drove through some hella big storms on the way home, so I hope the A bracket finished up dry. I had the most fun day of racing ever. After following Brian Parsons for a couple of runs, and aping his toeside pump, I finally saw good accelleration in the top of the course, which has always been my weakness (one of my many, rather). Before, I could gyrate, but never had a "GS" style pump.
The crowd was lacking a few of the regulars, so with 2 brackets of 7, I was relegated to the B group, with a bye in the first run. I made up 1.5 seconds on Davmo after having DQ'd on cones in our first match to advance to race slappy for the B final. I ended up ahead by .04 seconds going to the final final, jumped the start, then started "conservatively" not wanting to DQ (penalty for 2 consecutive false starts) and slappy was out of ther box first. He had 2 cones on me by mid course, so I cruised in on auto pilot. Winning time was a second slower than our previous round, so in retrospect, I should have attacked all the way down and tried to saty close in case he fell or blew out. Lesson? never stop racing.
Big thanks to Brian P., Yvonne Gamble, and all the dedicated DC outlaws, the nicest group one can possibly spend time with.
BTW. If you ever think Mike and Brian will be slow the next day because you last see them at a punk show at 1 am guzzling beer the night before a race...Think again.

If the weather’s good and the DC Summer FINAL Outlaw Race is still on, come in town Friday night. We have some space for you. I’m moving soon, but there’s still some space at my place. Camping in the backyard is aslo an option. I have a kingsize-bed tent. Slappy can also accommodate a couple of people. He’s 5 minutes away from my place.
Chris, Noah, Lisa, Ilva, Gilmour, others?

Vlad, Only pink tights are allowed. Inline skates aren’t, but it’s OK to run their wheels on your board. I’ll be wanting to know where you’re moving to, BTW.
Troy, it will probably be 10am for longboard and noon for open slalom, at the Gaithersburg Park & Ride lot, on Quince Orchard Rd. I can’t tell you exactly how to get there, but Chris Stepanek could.

I would love to come but will be down south in New Orleans training for the Worlds by eating oysters and crawfish at Acme.
Byrdman,
I will be in Biloxi Sat. night for a Jefferson Airplane concert. If you can make it down, I'll score you a ticket.
DC Crew, I look forward to a winter series starting real soon. Have fun. Go Parsons!

Just in case you all might want to know I broke my arm last night! I fell early on in the session but did't think it was that bad. Skated another hour or so Had a GREAT time the best session ever(getting much faster). After I got home and it started hurting like hell .turned out I fractured my radius head in my left elbow. See ya

Take 95 south to 495 capital beltway outer loop toward rockville / 270. Bear right onto the 270 spur, which is right after the rte. 355 exit. Follow rte. 270 to exit 10, clopper road / quince orchard. Merge onto Clopper, (check out the new P&R lot being built in the middle of the off ramp)second light, right onto Quince Orchard, go under the railroad bridge, P&R is on the right.

could we get a confirmation on racing tomorrow and what time all the fun begins?
70% chance of rain is not nice...if that is true I doubt I'm driving down...BUT just incase...
I just checked weather.com and it said AM rain....I'd be up for a night race like last summer...I like racing under lights. I gotta be home in NYC though by 7am....it's a F1 weekend...Monza for that matter.....
