the second to last picture of Wes should be on a magazine cover, man!! Wes, you look so damn tough!

Hey, I never noticed those vehicles driving the wrong way on the interstate when I was there. Oh, that explains why I appear so tough*. Vlad reversed the photo. It represents the anti-me. Flip it horizontally and you’ll see my polar opposite

On a side note: great pics, and I REALLY hope that I have more opportunities to get down to DC again this season. You guys rock!

You're always welcome to ride with us, Matt. Don't miss Andy's G3 May 2-4. See you there, and CentralPark if Vlad the Infurior* gets that together.

Question 1-a long time ago, pre Plankk-R

Question 2-the Silver Fox

what do I win?

Posted: Mon Mar 31, 2003 8:56 pm
by Vlad Popov
The correct answers are:
July (or August?) 2002 and Luca Giammarco, Italy (1995, Trocadero, Paris, with JG and Shirley).
You win WesE! photo, singed by WesE! (I’ll ask him). See you at Vans.

Central Perk would be Johnny’s comp. Probably in September. Expect an almost unmakable super technical course, a $300 entree fee with 100% proceeds going to the winner.
I only kid.
Vlad.

Yeah hey Vlad what is the spacing on that straight set of cones there, and what setup are you going with your Plank-r and PVD's.
<img src=http://images2.fotki.com/v22/photos/5/5 ... eup-vi.jpg>
Looks like your trying those PVd's on a few decks.

6 ft.
New camera, new trucks, new everything. My (secret) slalom/carving coach took the pictures.
Plankk-R with 17-inch inner-hole-to-inner-hole equivalent wheelbase. New ergonomic toe stopper is only good for running straight fast courses. It gets in the way on offsets ect. No Plankk-R toe stopper will be released before its time.

If you leave PVDs at 45/30 it’d be good for anything- from super tight TS to super wide GS. 50/30-35 for flat(/ter)land technical TS, 40/25 for scary-fast stuff. I haven’t tried any other combos, nor have I "mastered" those trucks. It was much easier with Trackers and Indies. First -find their limits, then work from there: adjust, do modifications, change bushings, geometry, ect. With PVDs - it’s only changing the bushing and adjusting preload. There are no limits. Or should I say, I can’t find them. The trucks are better then me. It’s like they are saying to me: “you ARE the weakest link, good-bye”. And they are not that much faster then the convectional trucks. I believe only .1 seconds faster then Trackers RTs on the Cyber Slalom course (and I could run that course 3-4 times in a row within 0.01-0.02 seconds). But they are better as they let the skater push harder beyond the limits of the convectional truck.
Damn it, I’m talking about PeeVees on a photo forum! Sorry.
Vlad.

Some of the best after-race (April 27, 2003 Woodbridge, VA) moments. The best is by far LBK’s face, hands, arms and knees. But he left before da beer showed up and made its way to da brains, leaving the first place to WesE.

The photo with me and Luca in Paris is with a Boston Skater who I got into slalom named Jeannie Clark (not Shirley McClelland ex- girlfriend of Jim Korten)....who worked for Fila and now teaches at South kent School in South Kent connecticut....I used to go there. jeannie did date one of the top NE. inline Vert skaters Matt Butterly though.

I'll have to give her a call and get her into it again.

Dan Gesmer stopped by DC a couple of weeks back. George Double Ya had his Yale class reunion, and because Gesmer is one of those Ivy League snobs, he was invited as a special guest. I was honored to be Dan’s host. It was his first time in Washington.

The reception lasted from 5 PM until 11 PM and I was supposed to pick up Dan on the corner of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. It was 11:30 PM when I started to get worried. Around 12AM Dan called and said that he’s been at 15th and Pennsylvania for too long. Weird, coz I was standing at the same intersection. Maybe there are two? I started walking up Pennsylvania Avenue and saw Dan walk towards me two blocks ahead. We met at 15th and Pennsylvania, the THIRD intersection with the same name. I think it was around 1 AM. So, all of the intersections around the Whitehouse are 15th and Pennsylvania. The only logical explanation is the following. When two or more terrorists are to meet by the Whitehouse, they’ll have to agree to meet at 15th and Pennsylvania. Naturally, they’ll never meet on time and their operation will fail. I heard this antiterrorist trend is moving into NoVa, so all of the Fairfax County intersections will be 15th and Pennsylvania. How very convenient.

Dan is one of those not very well known celebrities who’s behind a lot of slalom action. I’m not sure if he got any sleep in Paris while working over 14-hour days. I saw him fall asleep at a couple of restaurants. In the middle of dinner. The last FCR race was very similar in terms of workload.

Vlad...is that "somebody you know" picture(s) above Luca? Same kneepads/shoes as some old photos of him........

The finger positions give it away too, he skates cones like that..

am I right?

I wonder if he skates pools too… It's easy to find out.

If you go back and check 1995 results, a couple of guys from Saint Petersburg who were tens behind Luca's pace then are 27 years of age this year. And they are practicing. Plus, Ridoli might make a comeback. It could be hard to qualify in Paris next year.

That said, more of the man to beat NOW.

Here is a very compressed (poor quality) video of the racing on the 28th. You should see the hi res version....

http://www.angelfire.com/sk3/dcoutlaws

it is a real media file which was the only compression scheme I had that could make it small enought to go on the web.

Thanks Tim! So much media coverage!

Here's more. It was a pilor test. I picked the wrong card, so it's only about 10 sec. long. Uncompressed.

Log on to yahoo mail using dcvideo12000 name and dcvideo1 password. Stoll all the way down. Go go briefcase. Open my documents. Watch Ohm.

Couldn't do it. The system must be protecting itself. It probably sences when more then one person is logging in at ones. As mentioned before, it was a pilot test. Damn Matrix!

There is another way around the construct. I'll get a new address open and only send its login info to you. Only Mike can watch Ohm.

hi-res version on disk for beggers?
If youll be there this sat with a camara, we need to talk  I should have the New GS36 decks by fri, hoping to bring some sat & get a few shots of people that can accually run cones on them.
Will this be the first in a series of DC race videos? yeah Baby, yeah!

Tim,

Great video, even if its is low res. You did a really good job and I really liked your choice of music on the video.

My son Aaron has just about wore out the video on my computer!

An idea for you. Maybe you should consider burning many copies of the video in high resolution and list and sell them on Ebay. One it could provide everyone with a high res copy of the video who wants one, two it could further add interest to the DC Outlaw races, and three provide you with a little cash to play with.

Put some on Ebay in high res and I will definately buy a copy.
