I am thinking of having a race at the Park and Ride Saturday April 7th.

Who's down?

I may be able to get one Curt Kimball to show.

I am so down and I am going to try to bring my friend and possibly friends. I'll bring my cones if needed. If you do a longboard slalom race I could probably force a few extra people to come out. I'll spread the word if you confirm this as an event.

Dang it...

I just said I'd work a special event this Saturday(my usual day off) so I cannot be there....oh well, atleast I can apply these hrs to my day off on Tues when I hit up Maple Shade,NJ and Groton,CT.....2 fun concrete sk8 pks on my way home from Killington.

I'm the friend anthony mentioned. I'm definetely in, me and anthony have 50 cones collectively, so we'll bring those whether or not we think we'll need them. I got some camera gear, so I'll do up a short video segment about it and post it on the fish to get stoke up.

Looks like it'll be "brisk", does that make it hurt more or less? ;-)

If it's cold and windy at the P&R it means you start at the top of the course . . . and end up farther up the course.

When it's mellow the P&R is too sweet. When there's a breeze, though, it's always a head wind and it's a killer.

Just remember, though: headwinds only matter when you qualify. When you race everyone races in the same conditions.

John OShei is in town but he didn't bring any slalom gear. If anyone has extra boards to lend, that'd be great.

I'll be heading out around 8:00 so that I can blow off the course in time for Ohm to set up. (Mike, I should be there between 9:30 and 10:00)

If it's a no-go someone please call my cell 717-332-4991 and let me know so I don't drive all that way for nothing.

Thanks,
Dan

I'm there man'ana, even if it's TIT ass cold I'll be there to make runs and see all you guys for what seems an eternity.

Geez you comin? If Geez don't show I have to "borrow" a board. I have nothing I wish to race in this weather besides my Carbon Fibre Turner which can handle the cold. Thing is, Geez has my hangers.

I'll be there to be with my DC CREW bretheren but I'll feel better having my board to run. I know it's pussy but whatever.

I'll be there just because there's a Chipotle' close by.

That is where we're going to get grub right?

Help out....

Dan, turn your phone on dummy.

G'burg conditions

by Michel Temoche
Right now the pavement is wet in G'burg a little snow on the grass. Could dry up in a few hours.

Here's what the Washington Post says.

A little accumulation of snow early this morning; otherwise, breezy and cold with clouds breaking

Mitch, take a ride over to the PNR and call me from there. :) Tell the old lady you are going out for a Starbucks.

Me and Anthony and unnamed friend should be there, just waiting for the final confirmation. Although if Parsons is gonna be there, I guess we shouldn't leave him high and dry.

Just got a phone report form BP.

10 skaters

Long board slalom
hybrid single lane. The pavement remained too wet in spots for a dual course.

The young guns were charging and kept challenging to set a fast time.

Parsons brain exploded and he came up with the brilliant idea of the slowest Longboard slalom qualifier could pick whatever board he wanted to ride. The board selection went up hill from there with the fastest qualifier riding whatever was left.

What was he thinking?

It was COLD. High of 37. Wind blew steady all day with some gusts.

I'm sure the Outlaws will fill in more details.

Oh, I forgot to ask BP:

Where was LBK?
Where was WesE?
Where was Geezer?
Where was Slappimus?
Where was I?

Parsons ended up on my 60" Jam for the "pot luck" longboard slalom.

Ohm and Parsons were in a heated battle to beat eachother's times and to break 9.000s on the 25 cone hybrid course.

There was a TS course set at 5.5 feet with an indeterminate amount of cones (somewhere around 38-39 is what I counted).

PA Dan brought his E-Glide and I gotta say that going uphill at 20mph on a skateboard is the trippiest thing you will ever experience without chemical aid.

It was a pretty chill session (pun intended for snow/wind) and everyone was getting better for sure.

We gotta do that again, I'm itching to rip past some geezers (and Geezer too) but I can't do that unless we all get together...

That was a lot of fun. I forgot to stretch though and my hamstring hurt all today. I really missed running cones with you guys. I already needed to save up hundreds for downhill trucks and now add another 100 and some for a front radikal...We'll be back out to skate with you guys again and I will hopefully build a better board with real grip tape rather then scraps.

It was a really, really cold session.

Typical for winter at the P&R. Very Windy...cones floating as you pass by...

Regardless it was still a very good day. We have outgrown the P&R and the surface is not quite as good as it once was. But for TS and hybrid courses it is still a primo spot.

It was good to skate with Mitch and PADan. And even Bobo showed up and pushed around a little. So with Mitch and Bobo there we almost had a very early OG P&R reunion of sorts.

Anthony and Brendan are super fast. And Jack was much faster than the last time I saw him skate.

Longboard slalom was fun but the wind killed all hope of speed. The hybrid course produced a little death match between Anthony, Brendan, Ohm and I. Ohm took it.

Very cold, but still a very fun day.

time to go

april 7th is like so long ago, i think this thread can lose its sticky status...tighten up dc outlaw gang, and come race my private course....freashly surfaced no bust, no people hill, long rides short walk...whats not to like, and kid friendly, but you can race in a park in ride the rest of your carreers.....BTW who is going to statesville in sept... think I might make it happen..
