Mike Ohm won the regular slalom on his ICK. I believe he beat everyone by close to a second?

We had to use the shorter less steep hill because of tons of dirt and gravel on the other side. But Brian made the best of it with a fast, fun course.

Thanks, guys for the GREAT race this Saturday. Thanks, Mich, for the ride from D.C.

Hanging with all you guys was just pure fun, and I do hope I can make it down again.

Let the record state that my unofficial best time of the day on the open slalom course was 16.86 (or something close to that). I cannot allow myself or others to think that the best I can do is an 18 sec run. And though that best time didn't count for crap in competition, it did mark my path to improvement.

Oh, this slalom thing kicks butt!

We finally had an opportunity to hold another Outlaw race in DC. The weather threatened again with below freezing temps but all of us got a quick cure to our cabin fever. This race was lacking some of the regular racers due to the conflict with the ECES snowboard event in Vermont but we still had a great turnout with several new guys showing up to give slalom racing a try.

It is no surprise that Mike Ohm took the win in open slalom. This guy just keeps on getting faster.

Dan Mitchell took the win I the longboard division just ahead of Cabbage. Cabbage’s fastest time and mine were the same, so we had a runoff for 2nd place. Cabbage laid down the fastest time of the day in the runoff with a 13.61 on a 47-inch Hypercarve. It was sick. I gladly gave up 2nd place.

By the time we got to running the spec race the temperature had dropped and most of the guys decided to pack it in. A few of us diehards stayed and raced it. I have to say the Bahne Black Hill is a great slalom setup. Several of the new guys raced them in the open slalom and I felt very confident on it during the spec race. Everyone had a blast racing them.

We had about six new guys out running cones today. New guy Ben shows up and made the course on his first run and just ripped all day long. Also newbie Jason by the end of the day was making the course with great style and speed.

It was great to be back outside racing.

Our next attempt at another Winter Series race is Saturday January 25th at the Gaithersburg park and ride.

What's up Chocolate City. I had sooooo much fun on saturday. I already ordered a blackhill board on saturday night as soon as I got home from Vans. Cabbage is the hardcore shredder for real yo! Every time he went down the hill, we could see his skibbies hangin out his jeans man. That itsh is funny dude. Wear a belt, you'll go faster. The leather jacket was full on punk! I'm gonna get some cones this week. Cabbage, let's hook up on saturday, I gotta drop the girls off at the baby shower about 15 minutes from the park in VA. I wanna train, so get some cones together so we can practice dude. Bring Dan the man and make his set up that plank with those turner wheels so he can get his ride on. Later player.

What's up crazzie cabbie. My board should be at my house today. I can't wait to try it out. Get Dan set up on his board so we can practice dude. I'm gonna price some cones today at soccer plus. Do you have access to any?

Make sure you get the solid ones, not the colapsable ones with vents. They are deadly. And be sure to cut the bases off. If you can spring for some Turner cones it would be money well spent.

Also you may want to add a little more riser to your Black Hill, us fat guys were getting some wheel bite during the spec race.

I just went to the soccer store here in waldorf, and the cones were a dollar a pop for "disc cones" and 1.50 for 9" cones. I will probably get about 25 dollar cones to start. They are easier to set up and can be run over by a car without causing damage. I will be able to set them up on a mild slope in my neighborhood without any trouble. I can't wait. My board didn't come today, so I am kinda bummed. Later

Jason,
I got 50 cones for 40 bucks from an online soccer store called AYSO. Spent a lunch hour cutting off the bases and bingo!
Good luck

Y'all do know Turner cones are on sale for $1.00 apiece? (Minimum of 50 cones, 25 red, 25 white.) That's how I could finally afford my 100.

Yeah Mr. Tucker is right on. You can't beat Turner cones at a buck a pop.

Yeah... Jason, if you're talking about getting the "disc cones" for a buck a pop, don't do it. If, by disc cones, you mean those low, flatter profile cones... just don't do it. The hospital time'll cost you a whole lot more than the money you saved by going cheap. The first time you get one jammed up under the nose of your board, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Anyone want to go half on some Turner cones?
I want to take advantage of the deal, but am really short on the green these days..plus I lose my job in less than 2 months.

If interested, just email me.

Hey cabbage,
I am gonna skate at vans on saturday during the day time. Enide's baby shower is on saturday afternoons at her mom's house off of Braddock Road in Fairfax. I gotta go there first and make the daddy appearance and then I am gonna go to Vans for a couple sessions. Maybe they will let us set up some cones there or we could just cruise a little on the slalom planks before having a heavy deepend bowl session. Bring some pads cuz it's gonna get ugly. Call me. Get Dan involved. #301-932-8947
