We are sessioning at 1pm today at the Verizon building right off the Beltway and rt.50 (just inside the Beltway) in VA. It's the Fairview Park area of office buildings. Follow the signs off RT 50 and 495 that say Fairview Park. Turn left on Fairview Parkway and Verizon is the only building on the left side. Go in the second entrance that is the very bottom of the garage. This entrance is best for reducing bust factor.

There are about 4 other garages within a 1/4 mile if we do get busted at Verizon.

Vans on Thursday night sounds good to me.
They've been laying a ton of salt and sand down today. I wonder how rideable P&R will be on Saturday?

Too sick to make it to Vans tonight. Half-hour after Vlad phoned me, I lost my voice and I now feel like crap. I'll catch up with the crew this weekend, I hope.

Sorry I didn't make it Vlad.
But a fresh young blonde we just hired showed up to the happy hour just after you called.

LBK don't get little Ian sick!

Anything going on for Saturday? Parking garage?

Wow Vlad you are kind of being a communist dictator.

I thought Cabbage was his full name.

Anyway, Cabbage I will try to make it to Vans tonight. Sounds like a fun session.

Cabbage,

I would like to see a Sidewalk Surfing Expression Session held within a three hour vicinity of Washington DC on Memorial Day Weekend 2003. No contest, just fun rides on a long ass wide-open mellow hill so people can show some style for a change.

Just think of it, people like your self could give pointers on reverse drop knee turns. People like Ron Saah could show off cross stepping skills and walking the board. The guy from NY City that has that street surfing web page could put on a demo for us. Maybe Bob Loftin from Texas Longboarder could fly on out to give us a schooling on his powerful longboard skills. We could even put on a high jump contest and/or a barrel-jumping contest.

Surfrider couldn’t run the show because it would either be outlaw or permitted with big time insurance costs. We might as well keep it outlaw and low cost.

Maybe the longboard skate manufacturers could support the Sidewalk Surfing Expression Session with simple items such as T-shirts. We could raffle the stuff of for a buck a chance with the money going to the DC Outlaw Slalom Club for race equipment.

Eric Moore has nominated VA Tech’s parking lot as a venue. What other locations could we do this?

If there is enough interest in a Sidewalk Surfing Expression Session in the DC area, we could post it up on ncdsa.com real soon with the tentative event date being the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. The exact location could be announced and posted when the event time draws near.

What you think?

And THAT my friends ,is why I read each and every VLAD post I see regardless of topic.. TK

Vlad, on a more personal note, please be mindful of your feelings toward CMC. He is a master Svengali and has broken the heart of many who have seen him carve. I have seen grown men swoon over him when he walks over carrying that 213 or whatever it is and asks to borrow a cigarett. Don't say I did'nt warn you. Your friend and fellow American, TK

I thought I was about to see 'Rocky III' revisited with Apollo getting a beat down by the Russian.

Vlad you forgot to mention they were frootbooters. I think they were just trying assert their lack of manhood at what they thought would be an easy mark. Little did they know.

Frootbooters: "We want an apology!"
Me (raising my hand): "Talk to the wristguard!"

Damn Vlad, I got a thank-you from everyone who received a farm cd except you and WesE. WesE I can understand 'cause of the stunt I pulled in NYC but you...well I kinda figured I hear from you. Maybe it has to do with the way I looked at your gorgeous girlfriend while you were asleep in your tent last summer.? Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it.

Wisp was cool. It took me another hour after passing Clear Springs. It was snowing the whole day. I got to experience trying to ride powder for the first time.

Have you ever slammed so hard on your ass that you almost shit your pants? It's not fun.

I'm standing while typing.

Anyone for slalom tomorrow? Fountainhead?

Vlad, Ashlee, LBK, WesE, Slappy. I plan on riding Vans again this Thursday 9-11. Really wanting to race slalom this weekend. Hopefully it will warm up some. Ron left me a message that the P&R was covered in salt. Hopefully the high winds and dry air has cleared most of it. As of now still planning an outlaw race on Saturday.

Vlad, I will bring my timer so you guys can practice cyber slalom. I would like to try toset a more slalom less banked slalom course on the street area. Or not. I'll probably just ride the pool.

Yeah, I checked out the P&R on the way home from Whitetail on Monday night. It needed a lot of work to be rideable.

Brian, are you still going to be at Vans early, at 8:15pm, for a pre-park indoor slalom session? I'm planning for it.

Vlad,

What's the difference between "virtual slalom" and the NCDSA Cyber Slalom? Are you referring to some game you guys in DC play when you are snowed in or the real thing being ran this May at the Gathering?

Vlad,

Just wanted to make sure before I corrected you

I just went to NCDSA and double checked the rules and they have not changed, so things are the same as they were last year at the Cyber Slalom Challenge: THERE IS NO PUSH LIMIT! You can push from one end of the course to the other. Believe me, there is no "no-push" line in this format.

Last year, several racers, (including Kimbel I believe?) were pushing right through the first cone before picking up their foot and then dropping their foot for the last 15 foot run out and pushing like hell to increase their final dash to the finish.

Just to make sure, here are the rules directly from the NCDSA Cyber Slalom website:

*************************

How to run it:
1. One foot on board, push foot on ground within 3-foot Starting Box.
2. Board must cross Start line between the front corners of the Starting Box.
3. Time starts when board crosses the Start Line.
4. Time stops when board reaches Finish line.
5. Any cone displaced DQ's.

*************************

Nothing about "no push" or "stop pushing" or "DQ if you push past point "x".

Just wanted to make sure you knew what was going on so as to not be flummuxed come May if you decide to run the course at the Gathering!

Trust me, Komrade: we only have YOUR BEST INTEREST at heart around here!

Vlad, you wrote, "The CS Cup will be ran at the Gathering III, and no matter how slow the winner’s time is, it will placed forever into the Cyber Slalom Challenge Hall of Fame."

Are you trying to make a point that this is silly, or doesn't make sense. It seems that way. As usual though, the simple misuse of a single word makes the whole comment irrelevant.

The fact is, there is no "Cyber Slalom CHALLENGE Hall of Fame". There IS, however, a "Cyber Slalom CUP Hall of Fame". There is a difference and putting the real title of the event in your post makes the whole thing much more sensible and much less impactful.
