Shut up, Harms, it's nothing impressive.
Sheesh, the guy runs 5.8309037900874635568513119533528 cones per second and all of a sudden he cops an attitude. ;-)

Seriously, I'm just curious to see how different or similar it looks compared to, say, the 88-cone straight slalom at last year's West Virginia race--which, you might just recall, you won.

And maybe you've actually seen video of someone running a legitimate 5+ cones per second, but as far as I can remember, I never have.

On a slightly different angle: I've heard (actually read) Gilmour speculating about the possibility of 6 cones per second, but I've never seen any legitimate documentation of anyone doing it, even over a short course. Is 6 cones per second possible? If so, what sort of setup and cone spacing do you think would be needed?

Let's see,

6 cones per second would make the Cyber Slalom in 4.185 seconds. Michael Dong's fast time is 8.11 seconds. BUT, that includes a 15-foot run in and 15-foot run out. So that's 174 feet in 8.11 seconds.

So, let's do a little math: 8.11/174 = .0444 seconds per foot, or about .27 seconds per 6-foot cone. So, Michael did 6 cones in 1.39 seconds. (This is all averaged. No variation is made for acceleration from start to finish.)

In order to do 6 cones per second, Michael would have to shaveoff .39 seconds per six cones from his best recorded time. HOWEVER, let's not forget the Cyber Slalom is FLAT. So, would an increasing incline do the trick? Probably. Also, the Cyber Slalom is 6-foot. I would surmise that running 5.5 cones on a decent hill with an unlimited push start would result in 6-cones per second more than probable.

Sorry John, a trophy buck would be nice but I think I’m done with deer for the year. Duck season opens back up on the eleventh of December. I met a dude that’s got a blind on the Potomac, if the river don’t freeze over it might be a fun winter.

Its a shame that Vans is closing down. I only live only five or so miles away from the place and have only skated it a couple three times. Oh well, life goes on?

Saturday was a blast. The back hill has GS possibilities. Bring your balls!

I think Fountainhead has possibilities for a major DC area race, although some hills will be limited to single track. We need to start looking into reserving the whole back area from the gate back. We could set about 6 different courses on 6 different hills.

Anthony, I rode that hill on Saturday. I have to admit I kind of wimped out and started way down on it. That section of guard rail freaks me out a little. I keep thinking I am going to end up in the drink which is 20-30 ft below the road and would result in probably serious injury. However I think a big GS/Downhill hybrid is totally doable safely on that hill. Well, reasonably safe. Hay bales stacked 2 or 3 high would be required.

Mike is absolutely right Fountainhead has tons of potential for single lane or slalom cross type of event(s).

We rode a really good course there on Saturday. Then got chased out of Occoquan after one run. But was able to scope out a good looking hill for a possible legit race. For some reason the rangers or security at Occoquan don’t like us much. But bombing that mile long hill is killer fun. I think the problem is the parking situation. I think the fewer cars at the top of the hill the better. We should probably all go in one car when we try to ride there.

After the holidays we need to have many more sessions down that way.

Glad to see you guys were charging the backside. Another possibility, which is slightly less forgiving, is approaching it from the other direction. The turn archs before you get to the bridge as oppossed to the right side in which the bridge is the turn. Slider gloves will give you more confidence if you hit it from the right. I place that run along side the right portion of Normanstone (DC) as the most difficult runs in the whole area. Hitting it wide open, of course. Yeah, we should have some sort of "Cold Weather Classic" before the spring.
Olson and O'Shei will be here in mid-late January. I'm sure they'd want a piece of the action.
I have zero political connections in VA, so it's up to you VA boys, or someone could just say "Outlaw"
