Vladdy, I could be into some flat pumping style training stuff. Walker?

Oakwood should be on Sunday. Less traffic. Warmer.

Hey, guys...
I REALLY need to get on a board this weekend!

Saturday would be better than Sunday for me. Anyone up for practice at the P&R....Andy?...Hell, I'd even be up for Lansdowne, just to get some board time. I've got NoSkools for my Bulldog in 78a and 96a. Which would be better?
I'll be watching this thread 'till about 9:00 and again early (6:00 or so) tomorrow.

PS
Shouldn't we be posting under "DC Sessions" ?

I'm still hurting from a accident I had at work. I think I'll fish tomorrow. Have fun Y'all, knock a cone or two over for me.

PA Dan, general rule for Lansdowne:

Softer is better. Mount the 78's bring the 98's just in case you find the need for speed, but some areas are rough and bumpy, and others are slick from too much tagging. I run my 85a Shogo Kubos there comfortably.

I won't be there Saturday, but there will be a crew from Ellicott City there, and Karl (aka Taz aka MD Bulldog rep) will be there both days.

I'll be there Sunday, and if Bertleboy gets out of the doghouse, he'll be along.

Yeah, Dan, this probably should be posted under Sessions, but since you asked here, I'll answer here. Saturday's out for me. Saturday's are always harder for me, as I have a long term volunteer commitment to which I've promised two Saturdays a month. Sunday's supposed to be even nicer than Saturday, and I may make a real, legitimate training day of it. That means lots of runs, training courses and equipment research and performance recording.

i have good news and bad news...first the bad, I cant make it to the race this weekend (if there is one) because i have to go to band festival for school and it just so happens to be at our school so i have to work there too. Now for the good news, I measured the wheelbase on my sector 9 cosmic and it just so happens that its 29" and thats when im not standing on it so when i stand on it and the board flattens out itll be like 30.5" and i just put some better bushings in the indys on it too but alas i cant race it for another week longer....

Hunter,
Things usually start at 10AM. There is usually a "longboard" race followed by a more traditional slalom race.

Generally the courses are set in such a way that they are fun for varying levels of experience. If there are enough racers, they will run a separate "A" and "B" bracket based on qualifying times.

Last race they ran dual lane "head to head" races for both events.

The location is usually posted close to the race date, based on weather conditions.

Stay tuned to this forum, and you'll get the info when it comes out.

Saturday: Showers likely, mainly before 1pm. Chance for precipitation is 60%. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. :(

Skater's Almanac Suggests: Try again next week (damn).

I'm telling ya we should have raced last weekend...eitherway I'm out this weekend, F1 season opener....priorities man!

Have fun all skating in the rain or dry.

Next week would better for me! F1? what's up with that? Real race cars have fenders and race on Sunday. Go fast, turn left. Just kidding Michael Schumacher rules!!!

Racing in cars? What’s up with that? Real racers generate their own speed, get thrown from their vehicle during mishaps, and race on Saturday. Turn left, turn right, think fast, go fast.

Yea, weather is looking bad for this weekend. I will post a final decision tomorrow morning around 9am.

For those that did not ride Oakwood Rd last weekend. It was a blast. At those speeds slalom is a completely different thing. I am ready to ride it again. This hill is an equalizer.

Question for Bozi or Anthony. Can a Mad Bomber be made into a drop through? And will Randall 180s work for the speeds the standup guys go?

Check back in the morning for the latest on the race.

BP,
Keep us posted (about the status of the race)...

There's a discussion about Bozi MB dropthrough happening at NCDSA.

I think you'll be fine for a while on your Randals. Just reverse the hangar and put in some hard bushings. Downhill trucks would really be something to look into if you get into downill racing.

At Van Dorn I was riding R-IIs and got no death wobble.

If you believe this forecast:

http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyho ... &begDay=66

the chances of racing on Saturday in DC are somewhere between slim and none, and Slim just left town....

Thanks Anthony and Jack,

Yea, the race tomorrow is postponed until next weekend. March 13th.

OK I screwed up by not having a race last Saturday. Sorry guys.

Brian,

Thanks for calling the race early. Waiting til tonight or tomorrow morning is way too late for me.

And, no, despite Stepanek's moanings and groanings, you did not screw up by delaying last week's race. I made the suggestion that two weeks between races was just too short for some of us to travel and I think most everyone at the last race agreed.

Trust me, my dear boy, no one holds you personally responsible for the weather.

We blame that on LBK!

Hi Guys

Thanks Brian for the heads up.

I was going to make it tomorrow but next weekend will work fine for me since I will be on my 5 day break. So count on us guys making it next weekend. I think Evan will be coming too. Aaron gave Evan his old white Turner and set it up for him. Aaron's Birthday is on Monday so he will be 15 years old!

I think I will go to the movies tomorrow. I want to see the Passion. Since that movies has been out I have had to go to the movie theater on the Fire Truck several times because people are flaking out. Hysteria!

Take care guys,

David Morris

I don't know. But I can say that if he gets too big for his britches I can always send him to his room!

Would i have to compete in order to ride the course. Im asking cuz ive never ridin a slolom course before and i wanna give it a shot.

Posted: Fri Mar 05, 2004 8:10 pm
by Brian Parsons
Kolin,

No problem, I am sure you will receive alot of coaching if you make it out. Every race recently we have had several beginners ride the courses, some race some do not.

If you can ride a skateboard you can race slalom. The hill at the P&R is mellow and the courses are set beginner friendly. We always have a longboard race 1st which is wide open. The traditional slalom can get a bit more technical.

Dont worry, you will have a blast.

We’ll post directions after the race site is decided on. The location could be the Gaithersburg P&R or it could be someplace else in the DC area. Start checking for it on here next Wednesday or Thursday.

Post poning the race makes me really happy cuz otherwise i would have missed out if it were this weekend cuz i have band festival and our school is hosting it too. Ive even been setting some slalom on my street since its been so nice and since theres a house no one lives in yet cuz it was just sold i could use all the pavement in front of that house and the one next to it.

im gonna bring jay out to the next race to give him a go at slalom. I dont think anyone else of my crew will be there cuz danny and gareth are in florida with band and i havent talked to jimmy in like a week so im not sure about him but i posted on our website to let him know when he does go online. but jay will need a few pointers and stuff probably but he'll charge hard i know that...

Sure, AnthonyF, bring them out.

Hmmm,
Saturday: All that’s predicted so far is mostly sunny, with a high around 51. Sounds good for racing at the P&R, except that on Friday, gusts as high as 33 mph are predicted - If it carries over to Saturday, P&R might not be too fun.

Weather.com's hourly thing...

http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/h ... &begDay=73

Pretty windy in the AM, but tapering nicely in the afternoon...

I'm out for most of the day, due to family/church obligations. :(

If things end up at the P&R, I'll try to swing by towards the end. If things go down at Fountainhead, we'll be out altogether.

Bunches of Old Schoolers heading for Lansdowne Sunday if anyone is interested.

Meteorologist (who also plays one on TV) Bob Ryan said that wind should be low by Saturday.
Anthony Flis wrote:hey can someone spot me some knee pads on saturday?
Anthony, I’ll bring an extra set for you. Bring the one that you still have though. It will help alot if that one is for the right leg, because the extra right I have is fairly gone by. Otherwise, you might have to duct tape it to your leg (so wear long pants).

It's on!! Park and Ride tomorrow.

For those that need directions it is exit 10 off I270 in Gaithersburg. Take right at 2nd traffic light onto Quince Orchard then take 2nd right into the P&R lot.

Longboard practice will start at 10am. Let me know if you want to do single or double lane longboard tomorrow. The longboard duals were fun last time. But makes for a longer day.

Noah, fear the young one from Va beach. He probably should have won the last race.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high around 49. North wind between 5 and 15 mph. Looks like it could get quite windy at the P&R. As always, we are in need of a hill that’s not facing North.
