Mike Ohm and myself will be helping instruct the All Girl Longboard Session
We will teach the basics (safety, starting, stopping, carving) to the advanced skills (drop knee turns, generating speed, slides, cones, etc.). So if you know any girls (SPARE ME THE JOKES) interested in trying out longboarding or want try out different longboards for free or just want to session, then tell them to call Eastcoast Board Co. 703 352-4600 to sign up.

Anybody else interested in showing up to help instruct? Bring extra longboards with you. Might be able to set up an easy longboard slalom course for the women using Mitch's timer.
How about some help from the DC Crew?
i.e.
Anthony Smallwood
Doug Doupin
Brian P.
WesE
John Dillon
Ron Saah
Timbo
Vlad
Mitch
etc,

I confirm!
I remember that course. If one can make it up to that point without hitting any cones, let me tell ya, that one is the one, you know what I'm saying?
The kid is talented, no argument here. But every one is questioning his age. I'd say early 30s and looking good!
What say you?
PS.
You’re a dangerous man, Mr. Mixwell. I'm lucky to be your friend.

I know what you mean about his age.
Doesn't it seem like he was learning to walk just yesterday???
And we should all give the Riordons' a big thanks for raising him as if he was one of their own. (The unorthodox style must come from the LBK training.)

Enough already. I’m skating and building the rest of the weekend. I’ll see you from the podium, Slappy, ya creep.

Slappy seen here sporting a smart new "WesE, Slalom Master" T-Shirt. I heard he had to print 50 of them so drop him a note and he might sell you one...cheap

Last night's ALL GIRL LONGBOARD SESSION in Fairfax, VA put on by EAST COAST BOARD COMPANY SKATE SHOP was huge success. Over 25 girls showed up to learn how to longboard skateboard. Most had never skateboarded before. By the end of the session, all the girls were carving it up and 18 girls signed up to race slalom head to head on longboards.
Brian Parsons set an easy 'newbie' dual course for the girls. The rules were simple, 1 cone=DQ, single elimination with one race down the course against the opponent. A starting judge started the race with a "Racers Ready 3-2-1-Go" count. No timer was used, the first girl across the finish line advanced. Two finish line judges made the final call of who won each head to head race.
Highlights of the race included Brian's sister Rachel Parsons advancing by beating out one of her roommates. However, the girl to watch was a young teenager who was charging it with confidence by the name of Britany. Though in the end in the finals, Britany got a bad push start and had to keep from DQ'ing the first cone. This left the door open for Katy to edge Britany out for the win.
All Girl Longboard Results
8/11/03
1st Katy
2nd Britany
3rd Katie & Sarah (tied too close to call)
*The All Girl Longboard Slalom Race was most likely the first ever all female longboard slalom race in the history of slalom skateboarding.
**Special thanks goes out to the following sponsors that sent out demo longboards:
ARBOR
BARFOOT SKATEBOARDS
BOZI LONGBOARDS
