Green Skate Laboratory Make or Break Meeting Monday 6/21/04

Post by David Riordon » Fri Jun 18, 2004 4:12 am

Attention EVERYONE local to DC:
Please attend the community meeting on Monday June 21st at 6:00 pm to show the community the support for the Green Skate Lab Skate Park Project!!!!

Who:
Green Skate Laboratory http://www.greenskatelab.org/
Terri Nostrand and her husband Chris are organizing the project.

What:
The community meeting on Green Skate Lab Monday evening.

Why:
This is where the community votes to either approve the bowl or give us
hell. "Technically" they can't stop the project, but the Parks and Rec
will not let us build there if the community is opposed.

How:
It is our job to convince them that this is the best thing in the world.
Not many people show up to these meetings (less than a dozen usually)- that may be good or that may be bad. Our best strategy is to show up with as many people as possible. Please feel free to bring any statistics, letters, information that you may have that you think will help.

If you want me to make copies before the meeting you can email it to Terri Nostrand kazahn.03@starpower.net or fax it (see below). Not sure what ammunition we will need. More is always better. In DC many things happen when you appear to know more or be more organized.

When and Where:
We will meet at 5:30 at the corner of Washington DC at the corner of Shepard and 10th St. NE This is the future site of the bowl.

Note:
We will walk over to the meeting at the Brookland Elementary school (a
couple hundred feet away) at 5:45 so we can field any preliminary
questions before the meeting begins. If you have a GSL shirt wear it.
Terri will have some more shirts with me if anyone needs them.

For more info:
Terri (240)604-7927, or her Terri and her husband Chris at (202)248-4718.
Fax (202)576-3147 attn: Terri Nostrand

Damn!

I really want to go, and I think it's really important. I'm on a very tight moving schedule, so I doubt I'll be able to.

It's lame, esp. because D.C. really, really, REALLY needs something like this--and not the lameo Rhode Island park.

Good luck. I'll see what I can do with the wifey to allow me to stop by, but I highly doubt it.

That's what happens when you don't check your email for a while.

I knew I should have moved to Brookland.

Rene.
