Summer Outlaw Series
Guys, due to some family obligations I can not make the race I had scheduled for this Saturday. However, that does not mean that I am canceling the race. If there is someone who would like to take over of this weekend let me know.
I am sorry to post this up so late but I was hoping I would still be able to make it. Now it is certian that I cannot.
If no one wants to run this we can maybe reschedule for 12th or 26th.

DC Outlaw, June 5th
Brian,
Yvonne and I were definitely planning on attending, and I have already made our hotel reservations. I'm going to lose my deposit if the race is cancelled. The weather is looking good; all we need is a timer. I have 50 Turner cones, and could bring my 50 orange Tracker cones as well.
Come on Outlaws, lets make this happen!!

We Don't need a timer to have fun, I'll be there! The weather is supposed to be GREAT.
If Brian wants to lend out his timer I can pick it up at a time and place that's most convenient for him, tonight, tomorrow night or Saturday morn.
I'm sure somebody will Know how to use it, not me, it's all Greek to me!

Cool...thanks guys for making this easy.
I can drop the timer off with someone tomorrow. The only problem is that I have about a 2 hour window. 3-4pm.
I can bring it to anyone that is close to the northern or western halfs of the beltway.
WesE...are you going to be close to Northern Virgina today or tomorrow?

I’ll be at the race. I could do the starting, bracketing, and help with the timer, but I’m not a great course-setter.
Ohm, you gonna be there? Maybe you could set us a fun course.
Brian, I’ll give your cellphone a call.

I'll be there at 9:00 to start setting up. If anyone else can show up at 9:00, it would be helpful, especially if you are bringing the timer or want to set a course. That's usually the time I, Yvonne, and Brian get there to start setting up.
I'm assuming we'll still try to do the "run what you brung" GS single lane course first, and then the dual hybrid.
If no one else shows up early, I'll set the GS course.

I'll give y'all the same sad story I just gave that bastard 66 after an invite to ride in Atlanta this weekend:
New Tires
New Rotors
New Pads
New Shocks
TOTAL = $1,600.00
I haven't had the work done yet, but I decided that until it's taken care of, no extended road trips.
See y'all again when I'm road worthy.

Decisions, decisions....................
If we use the transfer, there isn't enough room to set up a second lane, and we end up using the same exact course as Mike Ohm's friday night race before T4G. If we want to run a dual race, we can't use the transfer.
I like dual lane racing, but I also liked Ohm's transfer course.
If we start the GS practice at 10:00, and run the GS race from 11:00 till 12:00, I would guess that we'll need to start setting up the hybrid by noon.

I’m sorry to be the barer of bad news, but the weather forcast for Saturday is not looking too good:
Saturday: Scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Cloudy, with a high around 70.
Sunday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 77.
I move that we postpone the race until June 12.
Or someone else could run it on Sunday - I won’t be able to make it to the P&R that day until 12 or 12:30pm.
If Saturday turns out to be dry, we could have a timed practice at the P&R.

I didn't even come close to making mike Ohm's course, it was way to tight for me. Maybe you all could give me some tips? Tight is something I badly need to learn! let's hope for a dry day.
BTW I have gotten a few bad Avalon's lately. Has any body besides Kevin and Me had that problem? I have a good green one that I will swap for a good yellow one!

Jeff, that course is not considered a "Tight" course. Maybe just tighter than you are used to. First try loosening your front trucks and look a few cones ahead of you. We can set up 6' centers at Walker for practice purposes. You have a good board and wheels, maybe some "Geezerized" 90mm trucks will help also.

Wooden chu know it, Sunday’s weather looks awesome.
Brian was nice enough to let me borrow his timer (thanks, dude), so...
I am going to be at the G-P&R on Sunday at 1pm, with the timer setup to display times soon after.
At least part of the time, I will re-run Ohm’s course. I still need to get a time on that thing. After I get a good time, I will consider it to be my “pre-Gathering Friday night race result”, yeah, that’s the ticket.

Re-scheduling DC Summer Outlaw #2
Since the DC Summer Outlaw race scheduled for today didn't occur, I would like to propose that we re-schedule it for next Saturday, June 12th.
The next race on Brian's original schedule is Saturday, June 26th. Postponing today's cancelled race to the 19th (instead of the 12th) places the next 2 races 1 week apart. Consequently, I believe that the 12th is the best choice.
Brian's original schedule:
May 15th
June 5th
June 26th
August 7th or
August 14th depending on what date Da Farm race is on

Thanks, Kevin. Yeah, I already proposed we postpone the race to June 12, so that is fine with me.

DC Summer Outlaw #2
Sorry about that, Wes. I guess you did suggest the 12th as the new race date. At least 2 of us agree to re-schedule for next Saturday.
Anyone else?

Suggestion
just a suggestion...
it might be wiser to re-schedule this race much later in the summer, giving everyone a fairer chance of making it. we're going to be racing again on the regular schedule in just a few weeks anyway.

DC Summer Outlaw Series
Back in March, when Brian first announced the race schedule, he stated:we're going to be racing again on the regular schedule in just a few weeks anyway.
Consequently, he scheduled no races in July. He has 1 race scheduled in August, and its date is tentative pending the date confirmation of Da Farm.July is a busy month in the local skateboard area due to the Checkers bowl series which I am hopefully going to participate in.
So far, we've had 1 race in May, and no races (yet) in June. If we don't race next weekend, there will be only 1 more race (June 26th) until August. That totals to 1 race in May, 1 race in June, and 1 race in August.
I still vote for racing next weekend, June 12th, as well as June 26th.
A possible alternative is for one (or more) of us to sub for Brian and add a couple of DC Outlaw races in July.
Brian, what are your thoughts?

I'm with Kevin. It'd be nice to have some more races soon.
I can help set up and run timers, etc.
One observation.
I noticed the last few races quite a few people leave after the longboard races. Is this because the regular courses are getting too technical for the novice skaters? Or do they have other commitments?
I know I don't make it to the longboard race because it's too early for my lazy ass.

DC Summer Outlaw this weekend?
Are we going to try racing this weekend, or what????
Come on, guys, it's SUMMER!!!! (not officially, but close) Let's skate. You know, while it's warm outside, no snow, no salt on the pavement............
If some people can't make it, all the more reason to have more races in July. Personally, I can't make it to the race on the 26th, but that doesn't mean that there shouldn't be a race that weekend.
Also, looks like Guillermo Tway has picked August 7th as the date for Da Farm. Can we lock down our DC Outlaw race for the 14th?

I think Brian told me that he will be busy this upcoming weekend. Add that to the absences of PaDan & the Morrises and well, that’s quite a bit of absence.
Personally, I welcome a race or any other format of slalom event this weekend. If we did have a race though, it shouldn’t count for “points” (or whatever Brian uses as results criteria for determining the “series champion”).
As for the August 14th DC race, it is on as far as I know, but I'm sure DaFarm will take a higher priority if it conflicts. Give TK/Tway a couple more weeks to get it squared away on the contest calender.

riding
Did you guys ride Oakwood this weekend? Doug and I were riding the sickest hill I've ever seen. Very happy to be alive and in one piece.
I have to attend a wedding Saturday, but I'd love to hit Oakwood on Sunday or even some drafting at Occoquan. Maybe even a Vans session B or A. Anyone up??
Also, we're riding with downhiller Rob McKendry on Wednesday night in DC if anyone is interested

Hey Danny, that is me. We were actually in Maine on a hill a mile from the beach. Didn't think a set-up like that could offer much but boy were we surprised.
Some of the sports biggest names were there and they were saying it was the sickest course they'd ever seen. That picture shows one of the few times I made that corner-you can see one rider in the bails and JF was on his way down-but I probably ate it in the next turn.
It was no doubt the biggest display of downhill balls that I've ever seen and the most difficult riding I've ever attempted.
Can't wait until next year.

Hey guys, are we racing next Sat. the 19th??
Since there were no races scheduled in July, how 'bout
the.......the........hell any Saturday but the 3rd!!
Of course these dates are purely selfish, since I'll be at the beach
July 3 and in Hershey for Aerosmith on 6/26 .
Really, whatever works for y'all (AAAAHHHH!!! Tell me I'm not
turning into WT!!!) is fine with me.

DC Summer Outlaw Race, Saturday August 14th
Attention DC slalom skaters,
This coming Saturday is the next of Brian Parsons' DC Summer Outlaw events. No more excuses; time to skate at the Park and Ride!
Slappy?
LBK?
John Dillon?
Rene?
GBJ?
All of the Gaithersburg Open slalomers!!!
There's nothin' to sign-up for, just show up. Normally, Brian runs the big ones at 10 and the little ones at 12. I'll be bringing Brian's timer and a spare helmet in case anyone needs to borrow one.
What are you waitin' for?
