GS Truck Setup

Post by T Whalen » Wed Jul 25, 2007 3:18 am

In past years I've always run trucks with hangers between 90 to 105 mm for GS. I don't have any front "performance" truck between 120 to 130 mm, I was wondering if using a Tracker Dart up front wedged heavily with a Splitfire spaced to 127 mm would be worth trying to set up? The Dart is the only other truck I currently have with a hanger larger than 105 mm and less than 150 mm.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help!

Terry

By all means it's worth a try! Wedge it steep
ENJOY!! (while you can)

There are a lot of widths for Tracker Dart. Are you talkin about 129, 139 or 149?

I rode Tracker RT-X 129 with Split fire on wide configuration, so near of what you're talkin' about and it works... I even beat Luca's time on Slalom Giant on the Garoupe spot (Antibes WC 2005) ;)

Now I personally enjoy the feature of the GOG front truck that can be set to 12Xmm with spacers (no problem of unfindable axle)

I've got a 129. I'll set it up.

Thanks for the advice!

A dart is different than a RTX. The Dart has a bent pivot and the RTX has a straight, indy style pivot. Most people would suggest a straight pivot for a front truck. A Indy 129, Tracker RTX 129, Bennet 5.0, or a Fury 7.5 would all make good front trucks (the indy and fury come in both low and high models).

One of my favorite front trucks for GS is the Midtrack, which is has essentially the same geometry as the Dart and RTS. Mine has a modded axle and is spaced out to 105mm. I think the "bent pivot" geometry can make for a good GS front end.
