The worst is we can't find anything indoors to ride a course in Montréal, so we all suck in springtime. 75 days and counting...

Hum, well that's not 100% true. Many people do something for global warming and some are trying to avoid it. ;-)

Julie just made this excellent vid to help us through the end of winter... :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWnmH5AYujE

It's from the last couple of sessions at The Fortress last november, just before the snow came for good. It features part of the Fullbag Team, some locals, and even a couple of first timers.

I would but there's snow on every path, quiet road, etc. Scoping out parking garages though. Managed to run some TS with Kash between snow storms last week though.... Snow was nearly completely melted and the road was nearly dry at our GS spot (I have a new GS deck screaming to scream around some cones, thanks Mig!) then the snow hit again!

This post says so much! The frequent use of exclamation points.... The misspelling of "crazy!" One must me really going crazy to misspell it.

Pretty much wraps up the theme of this thread in a nutshell! My sentiments exactly... Thanks Seb!

I have the solution...

Seriously! You ALL should be racing alpine snowboards in the winter! Snowboard GS is what makes my skate GS better (it's all about line and power generation) - and skate SL (TS/HY) has had a huge impact on my snowboard SL this winter (quicker feet / better reactions).

Get on it!!

Bon temps mon frere!

Well, actually I shouln't be saying this but if I had the time to participate in such races I'd do it instantly!

Anyway...anyone else a skier and snowboarder in here? What about telemark? Ever tried that? Oh...come to Switzerland and visit me...and the mountains....

Ramon, there must be a place near you where you could have a one-day skate/snow competition. GS in the morning on snow, HS in the afternoon - combined time wins. Heck, I know we can do it in California! When I lived in LA there used to be a Slalom/Surfing contest...slalom race in the mountains - partybus to the beach - surfing contest in the afternoon. :-)

fact is: there are plenty of such competitions ;-)

Rick, that was always my dream which I hope will happen when I get back to Park City permanently. A Snowboard race one day on the mountain and the following day a dual Skateboard race down Main Street, with some serious partying in between!

We had a really successful slalom race already in 2006 (http://www.slalomskateboarder.com/phpBB ... php?t=4178) and they've had every level of race at PCMR from Olympic down to NASTAR!

Late March/early April one year would be perfect....The Town would be into it as Restaurants kicked in Lunch for the Racers last time plus unlimited Pizza, Chicken wings and soft drinks for the evening function. Plus everyone got a free event shirt and goodie bag with free Khiro stuff (thanks Bob) and lots of other cool stuff.

The downside, organising a race in the US is major work, meetings, paying for permits, paying for loss of parking meter revenue etc....we'll see....

Sounds great - you're right, at PC you'll get the full USSA team alpine course treatment on the hill! You must know some people there who might get the ball (wheel, whatever) rolling at least? End of season spring party atmosphere would be amazing...and if it was post-season FIS WC, you might get a few extra world class snowboarders in the field. I'm sure COSS crew for one would also be into this kind of thing. I think it would be important to keep it snowboard/skateboard only - no skis, no skiboards...I'll leave the dreaded 6-wheel decision to someone else. :-)

Well it's not the urethane that left those "scrub marks", it's due to the salt lying on the road...:-|

Hey - check this out...interesting graph from Google trends. I compared the number of searches for SKATEBOARD and SNOWBOARD over the last 4 years.

http://www.google.com/trends?q=snowboard%2C+skateboard

Snowboard predictably has a big rise and fall seasonally.

Skateboard is very steady.

Both are on an overall downward trend the last 4 years.

In the bar graphs at the bottom - the US and Sweden are the most even in number of searches for each term.

Switzerland, Norway and Canada lead with most searches for Snowboard.

US, Canada and Australia lead with most searches for Skateboard.

LA is the only city in the top ten for the search "snowboard" - that has MORE "Skateboard" searches.
