I think World Cup was held ones in Saratov. I think 10 nations are going to be at the Swiss race. I think there was only 5 or 6 at the Californian World Championships. I think the Swiss were very careful in the past with naming their comps Championships or Cups. I think...but I’m not sure, I wasn't...

is your question about "World Championship" ? Gruningen is not a World Championship. Whatever the only previous World Championship is F-City-World. Since Paris is not into F-City... Each one can be world champion of his own city, but none of you will ever be world champion in Russia or Baltic countr...

i bet Jani did not read this. ISSA nor Slalom! ever was Eurocentric (this is SLALOM! website HERE), and, mr Hester, i don't think the 95 "Trocadero" contest was slow nor under 6'. i'll add that, now that slalom is restarting in Europe, it might be useful to restart a global ranking on objective basi...

there is two skateparks in Paris a new concrete thing near the russian ambassy in the 16th that is not public access now, and the access question seems undecided (association) a few people have jumped the wall and it's not excellent (a topic about that on Riderz.net) and there's a wooden indoor comm...

fountain thing is at the very end of the line and the race won't use much more than one third i guess.

there is fountains between the two ridelines but rarely dry (actually even stimulate the discovery of slide when there's a bit of wind), there is a street skate spot by the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, 300m from there, in the same architectural ensemble. Matybe your memory mixed the two...

The Tarmac was certainly the best possible while processed for the Expo Universelle in the late thirties. since then this spot has never been opened to automobiles. it's been softly polished by numbers of nurses, baby carts and quiet old people doing a little digestive walk. One of the problem relat...

i practiced there as a beginner, before i started slalom, with a cruising board, i didn't like it, not the slope but i found it too narrow to carve. it's actually used by longboard riders to practice slide (tuesdays 9PM) the ground is one of the best i've ever seen. Jani says it's going to be select...

[2003] Parisian Wednesday slalom rendez-vous
Hi, Let me introduce the parisian slalom rendez-vous: every Wednesday night with dry ground, slalomers meet after 9PM by the gates of the Charlety stadium. Precisely at the top of Bd Kellerman, RER "Cité Universitaire", PC bus "Porte de Gentilly" Rendez-Vous Charlety is the proud owner of a GS Turne...

another idea i had recently (for the Troca) is to use a tennis or volleyball net, as high as the belly, so that riders would pass arms over it. the thing would be hung on poles thru what we call here tendeurs [tighteners ?] or sandows: long flexible cords with hooks to fix luggages on a roof or so, ...

to John Gilmour : the ground in Trocadero is as slick as baby skin, very fast and sticky as long as it is dry ; sometimes the wind brings wet from the fountains at the bottom, but if you go that far down you are too fast anyway, aren't you ? there is some cracks on the left track, only the right one...

Trocadero - right slope for TS?
What do you think is the right declivity in degrees or percent (how does one estimate that ?) in Paris we're probably going to have a contest in Trocadero, which is a great setting, but it's rather slopy. Maybe it has to be related to how long, and how wide, and the level (beginners and seniors in P...

hi Jani, though it can be used as one wishes, this is not a foot blocker, this is "fly hooks", you're suppose to have one at each end and, as the name says, this is meant for jumping sidewalks. It produces a lot of pizza (i don't know if this metaphor is in use in american skate jive, means tomato-l...

i mounted one for my wife, who is a beginner rider, lately, she wanted a little board, the common slalom board is that "702", it is 71 cm and it has a perfact classic elegant eliptic shape. there is beautiful graphics on both sides, the top being grip treated in an original transparent and efficient...

once, i was working on the studio i live in, i dropped a huge can of paint on the sidewalk, it opened up : splash ! 1 square meter of thick white lake on the ground, thick like that it would take like 24 hours to dry. i was shure i'd get a ticket, people would slip on and fall down into it... That w...

that use of Xcell is very smart, but still it's strange to use that format. it makes a very complete document, but not very visual though. Not WYSIWYG. Seems more natural to work with a vector drawing tool (ideally ArchiCAD or such technical soft, but lots of sharewares would do, or bitmap drawing t...

every country has a different story: Swiss never stopped slaloming, but they do very hybrid races, they ride narrow 70cm to more than 1m boards with average Krypto wheels Here in Paris we start from zero in a group of DH riders, so a board that is less than 70cm seems really weird, like riding a lun...

hi, Getting Turner cones here in Paris, if you pay port and taxes comes to a ridiculous price, so we should have the proper cones, but we don't Usually we cut heads of traffic regulation cones, 9"-23cm cones like that make a big and heavy bag, so we would be very interested in an alternative norm (l...
