First off, I never stated that I invented the "Ollie". Where you come up with this stuff is funny Eric. But since you seem to want to continue this without ADDING to the discussion, I`ll bow out and let you have the reigns... <font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by: Brady Mitchell on 2003-02-17 0...

I`ve seen it happen here and on ncdsa but never read why people think it`s OK to dis another so maybe if it was openly explored, it could be reasoned or dismissed. I don`t think I have instigated a dis on another but will admit to feeding the fire when I felt dissed first. I am now trying not to all...

I hate to admit this but I gotta agree with Wesley. I haven`t tried the new Blackhills Bahnes but I did ride one of those starter boards from the grass roots promo. But the talk I read, the Blackhills are stiffer so I have nothing to judge by. But if I were comeparing the original starter boards to ...

Isn`t what Wesley proposed more of a team thang? Seems like that was one of the least favored options.... Wesley`s quote.."..March 29/30 - Elsinore, CA: SSS and Team Ick could do the honors. Arab, Maybe I have my FACTS a little ascewed but I was just trying to make a point. How many courses during last years FCR series were boasted as great courses? Since you have all the facts, I`ll let you expand on this. And for the love of god, please drop the E vs W thang!!! Oh, and it`s Brady or b...

re: beginner courses... I had a learning experiance today where I felt the heavier skater I was riding with had an advantage over me because of his weight. Two issues come to mind, added traction because of weight and faster gravity roll because of weight (picture 1# of feathers falling vs 1# of lea...

JG, Your point about the new gear is a clicker for me. I offer my boards to guys that pop into the local surf shop while I`m there. They are amazed at the ride. Unfortunately I don`t have a lot of spare time to get a regular session going. And not too many places to slalom at either (read HILLS). Th...

Arab, I didn`t mean for this to be the "dark side" but was only commenting on recent posts by you. I did not say you started the East vs West thing, only that you single handedly perpetuate it. And after rereading my own post, I want to clarify that I`m not knocking the FCR Series as not being World...

Where will slalom grow? I see a great potential for a big burst on the east coast. Why? Because of those who are pouring thier heart in souls into organizing events and making them newbie friendly....GBJ, Brian Parsons, TK and Tway, and now Rick down south. What bothers me though is the lack of part...

I doubt I am even near worthy of trying to post a time but still I`m curious as for what my top speed may be. Chuck and Mark have this great spot in WP that has a long run-off at the bottom of the hill and it runs pretty much flat. Could be THE spot to post a fast time. Now does Mark have that timer...

I like what CKnuck had to say. Maybe tight should be defined as allowing speed to increase without large offsets that decrease speed. Steepness of hill and surface of will dictate cone spacing. While my preferance is those large offsets at speed, I am generally lacking true tight slalom skills. And ...

Knowledge of what others do CAN make you a better skater. Example... My first race was at the Gathering `01. GBJ had set this dual dragon with an offset before a stinger section. At first I kept blowing out at that cone and only began to make it when I started sliding it out and scrubbing off speed ...

I can`t speak on issues of sandbagging or pro/am status, but I do think about criddling at a difficult section of a course. Mind you it was not a matter of a faster time just recently but just to get through a section without blowing out. I was the one that set the course this past weekend in WP and...

It seems as though Arab and Jack`s posts say pretty much the same thing with the exception of Arab`s quote where an AM winning dollar amount shall be no greater than the lowest awarded PRO amout or no greater the $500. Maybe the word pro should be eliminated altogether. I like the idea of skaters of like skills competing against each other. Especially for slowbies like me and newbies. Give `em all a chance to race. I remember Jack Smith posting somewhere he preferred competitions of 16? If prizes (or money) were b...

I can`t set a course for diddly squat. Having course(s) marked GREATLY aids this lessor skilled slalomer. Mark and Chuck marked some courses on our hill. Many benifits to it... I get to ride courses that actually work. The ease of setting a differant course. And since some of these courses are diffi...

Tway, This news bodes well for me. As you know, I`ve been a stickler on the false start option and haven`t commited to a purchase because of so. Though I was intimidated by the ramp at LCO `01, I`d have to agree that ramp starts are better for a contest. It adds visually to spectators. I also think it levels out the playing field to an extent with vert and transition riders having a slight advantage. It might not be as easy for others to pra...

Funny how this thread went from definition of GS to TS. I, myself, like a wide open course with larger offsets to give the surfy feel. Speeking of setting courses that most riders can make...just what was the number of DQ`s on that course you set Wesley at FB as to those that actually qualified? 50/...
