Plus buying 300 batteries and extras for a race involving 75-cone dual courses with each gate requiring two batteries. It could add up. But, try to get someone who drag races to commiserate because we spent a couple of hundred on dry cells. Hell, they spend that much on air filters . . . between runs!

TO ANYONE DRIVING IN FROM THE WEST ON INTERSTATE 40:

Don't know how many people this affects (maybe none) but I-40 is closed at the NC/Tenn border. Big rick slide. There's a long detour north to Johnson City on I-81 and then south again to Asheville on I'26 to pick up 40 again.

For those who remember, the exact same thing happened at Avila Beach for the 2002 World's. The good thing, though, is the sitatuation was seen at the top of the hill before anyone took a run. Racing stopped for a few minutes while the gen was refilled, started and the blower filled up the arch.
