RTX pivots

Seth, you can always talk directly to Tracker. Also, the pivots from Indy (and similar pivots) should fit moderately well. In my post on NCDSA, I assumed that your cups simply 'fell out', which they can do. The tape-on-the-bushing trick was a simple way to fill in that 1/2mm gap that is normal on th...

Bushings et al

From what I've been able to tell, using my personal 'Bounce and Bite' testing methods, the good stuff out there is the following. Hard Durometer; Tracker, old schoolin' stuff from the mid-late 80's. Look for white with a black Tracker star logo in Stiff,or Purple with a white logo for Medium. Stimula...

Addenda on entry-level boards

Micheal, I gotta add this about my impressions on the Bahne + Pocket Pistol decks; I rode both boards, but I'd forgotten that the Bahne Blackhill had some serious miles on it, where the PP was fairly fresh. It is also possible that the Bahne I rode was a 6 ply instead of a 7 ply (which Bahne also of...

Starter Slalomboard

Micheal, the Pocket Pistols are a better board in the long term, as they offer a bit more performance. Pocket Pistols also sells Foam Wedge Strips ($8-12 per kit) that're self-adhesive,designed to be laid down under griptape,so with those you can create the concave you want on any deck.

Rookie

My (albeit biased) nomination would be for Adam Schwippert. "The Worlds" were his 5th,6th,7th race[s] on a skateboard.. Of course, Racer X has to be noted, even if his name remains unknown.

Oh, my bad..! Up North here, I use wedges alot this times of year, helps get the greener blocks of wood down to burning size. The wood ones that survive, I'll drill them to work under my trucks...

Seismic at the rear..

Hey,Wes,you recall that little bit of black plastic I gave you (at The Gathering) for that Pony cone? That's a 5* Wedge, made by NHS/Cell Block. It's thin enough to just slip right in where it's needed to tune your ride. Use it, even though I recall you saying you didn't need wedges and such...

Comet Slalom

I too sold my Comet Slalom due to a flex that didn't quite suit me.All it ever needed was a slight reshape/lessening of the camber,and/or a bit of Hickory along the stringers.Rugged beyond belief, and very stable at speed, even with my trucks set on "twitch" mode. Comet should indeed look VERY careful...

Raceable Seismics

At Morro Bay's Super-G, I got 2nd in the "men's Open" class, just a nibblet behind Cliff Coleman (this turns out to be 26th overall,so not all That Fast, but hey, I got a cool shiny medal out of it! ). I rode a Bozi GS 36" running Avalons, then Gumballs(headwind lap),and placed with Avalons again (tail...

Jim Korten

I almost didn't recognise J.K. at The Worlds. The years haven't been kind to him. However, I did walk right up to him and let him know that I was super-psyched to see him there, and even happier to know he was Racing again. The last time I saw him skate was in '92, I think.. He's just amazing, able ...

Rt 279

That hill is now a Highway, Officially as of today. I'm very bummed, but knew it was coming, and I got Plenty of use out of it. The good news is that the Truck Pulloff is still viable, but probably isn't something anyone can plan for, so it'll be a "hit + run" spot. However, in scouting for a feasib...

Rt 279 !

Hey all, I just wanted to say "Thanks!" to those who came out a skated today! I had a great time, and it was fun figuring out what 'the fast line' might be on the monster Super-G! [Hey, Karl, I found my key, you're entirely forgiven, just don't ask to drive my car anywhere... :-P ] Trying to run it ...

Rt 279 Outlaw Race, Sunday Oct. 3rd

I just got off of the phone with Shaggy. We'll be looking to have everything in place by 11:00 am on Sunday. I'm aware that the 10-10:30 arrival time was the target, and please plan on that. It does take a bit to hike/skate in, and again, pack accordingly, bring water/munchies. I'll be there earlier...

Rt - 279

Derek,Glenn, thanks for the timetable. Shaggy will be bringing radios,Motorolas, and we'll use channel 8 (unless there's nearby heavy use on that band, but we'll start there),and I'll see about a starting flag that'll be see-able from a 1/3 mile away (good thing my Rec Park has a golf course,eh?!) as ...

Rt - 279

One question from your likely conesetter... Have we come to a consensus on a starting time? I'd kinda like to have things mapped out in advance, But I see a possibility of rain coming in for overnight Saturday (with Sunday being bright + clear again!) , which means I probably won't chalk the Super-G...

439 Austin Hill/Rt 279 playground

Glenn,my phone number is 802-375-9631, but it's Not a cellphone! By the time you're at Brattleboro I may be already underway towards Rt-279. You're welcome to try to call anyway. I tossed up Hannaford Plaza as a parking/meeting possibility,as it's right off of Rt-7's Exit 1 and Rt-67a, very visible,...

Foot-Stop?

Karl, I use the foam stick-on or gummy plastic toe-risers Burton sells to fit onto their softboot bindings. They're kinda 'nike-swoosh' shaped, and are about 1/2" - 3/4" thick. For added security ,I'll toss a T-nut or two thru them to keep them in place. I'll look and see if I've got any extras layi...

RT 279

Hey All, thanks for the positive interest! My previous markings for the MB-like Super-G have been washed away, but I'll try to scoot up on Saturday and re-chalk it. I'd also likely be putting up a 'squeaker' TS and a Hybrid that'll be for 'Training', although it'd just be a matter of getting Timing ...

Powell and Khiro conical bushings

Just a note on certain happenings that caught my eye; With Khiro's excellent aluminium-topped conical bushings,if yoo run these with certain washers or without a washer between the stop-nut and bushing,And you hear repeated 'clicking' during sharp turns, change up to an M-14 Stainless Steel flatwashe...

Ask Shaggy?

Terry + TK, would you just ask Mr. Schroeder if the hill I've got would do? We only used, um, a 3rd of it today, so there's plenty left! (btw, my feet are sore! Mr. Smith's Super-G is one long pup to do a step-by-step mearsuring of,as it's nearly a half-mile long) I'd post photos, but am computer il...

One more weekend...

I tried (twice!,rain took my pre-planned chalk marks and flushed them overnight) to set the Super-G that was listed for The Worlds. It was a fun course, though I suspect the tar I'm on is way more sticky than what'll be at Morro Bay.Double-Triple pumping at speed was the tactic for this. You simply ...

Big Hill,New Tar, NO CARS

Hi ya'll. I've posted up on NCDSA's Bulletin Board a few times to let folk know that my fave skatespot is becoming a Public Highway on OCT 18. This an extension of VT route 7 towards Hoosick from N. Bennington, and it straddles the state line. It'll officially be called Rt 279 ('cause up hooks up rt ...
