Unweildy newsgroup?

Well, at first glance this newgroup looks pretty tantalizing with its many and various categories related to slalom. But after checking in for a while, it would seem that perhaps there are too many categories as a lot of the sections have very few people posting... disappointing for a newbie. I trye...

Yeah, I'll ask about those trucks for sure.

And, do you think the ABEC 11 Flashbacks or ABEC 11 Stingers shown here on the Landy site would work for slalom wheels:

Canadian board for starting out?

Well, here I am again, wondering which board, preferrably available in Canada to avoid outrageous customs charges, would be good for starting out in slalom? I have a Landyachtz Mummy which is described as a GS board but I currently have Indy 158's and Krypto 65mm classic wheels on the board. I know ...

Any Seattle slalom during mid March?

Hey a couple of us Vancouver Canada types, new to slalom but keen to learn, are hoping to hit a bit of a slalom gathering in Seattle during Spring Break. Anything going on south of the line from March 13th - March 20th?
thanks

A newbie's quest for pumping wisdom

Questions about pumping:
1) can you pump the board in a straight line or does it always have to be turning?
2)trucks - how tight - does it matter much?
3) camber in the board - does it help or hinder?
4)tips to help in learning and practicing this technique?
Please enlighten me.
thanks

Hi Mike, thanks for your reply. I'm in Vancouver and just starting to take an interest in slalom. I currently have a Landyachtz Mummy with 65 mm Kryptos on it. I don't really know much about slalom but am pretty intriqued by the idea of trying to learn how to skate in this style. So why the wide whe...

Slalom wheels, why so wide?

Ok, so here's a newbie question for ya: I notice that the slalom boards have much wider wheels than say longboard wheels. What is the advantage of the wider wheels and typically where can I buy these type of wheels (any online stores sell 'em in Canada, do ya know?).
thanks
