Hey everyone- Thanks for the support so far! John- Deerfield food is some of the best food I have eaten! Don't worry about starving! I ran the idea by Ms. Bradley (Dean) before lunch today and she seemed to think it would work, but told me to talk Mr. Gendron (head of grounds) to ok the road closure...

I am aiming right now for April 20th, with a raindate the following Sunday. This should give us ample time to plan for the Clinic. I will speak to the Dean of Students and Head of Student Activities about the event this week, just giving them a heads up. I will also have Joe I. email them on behalf ...

Glenn- Yes I have run cones at school in the exact same spot that I am planning on holding the clinic. It was very cool- eveyone avoided my cones when driving by and a couple of kids tried the course. I never really told anyone i was running cones and foot traffic is nil behind the library. this spr...

This spring I would like to hold a slalom clinic at my school, Deerfield Academy. I have not talked to any of the deans about this yet, but I am planning to do so when it warms up (there is still 2 feet of snow outside and it's about 2 deg.) I am on their good side so I'm sure getting the OK will be...

Most kids I know pay around 150 for their longboards when they get them. So, I think a Comet Oshei (medium flex) build up complete directly from Comet would be an excellent race worthy setup for beginners. The decks are bombproof, the trucks are good enough to be raced on, and the wheels are decent ...

Matt- My ICK has an rtx/rts setup right now, with soft stims on the bottom (not cut down) and blue superballs on top. My kingpin is standard length. I pivoted the trucks and I also get a small gap between the stim and the hanger. I don't think this is an issue. If I had to guess I would say, the mor...

Hiya everybody! Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I am going to have a longboard slalom race here at school in the spring. All i need to do is find some kind of hill, get permission from the school, and set a semi-technical course that is fun and challenging for those who aren't as good at slal...

Well, I would have to say that I think more technical courses, tight or gs, are more fun and allow me to improve faster, so i'm all for them. Speed is last on my list really- if I wanted to go 35 miles per hour just for the sake of going fast I would hop on my bike or maybe go automobiling. Henry __...

Lathing wheels
In my quest to be cool (aka better slalomer) I would like to know how one goes about lathing a wheel down. I saw at WLAC that Evans lathes down his wheels and they looked pretty nice. I have the tools and the people to help me at school with this, but I wouldn't know a lathe from the bottom side of ...

Lord Chaput- NEVER!!!! You call yourself a Lord, but any high school student worth his or her salt knows that feudalism sucked. Get someone else to farm your land, like Joe Iacovelli. A lot of you guys and gals slalomed in the 70's, so I thought I would start this thread so you all could remenisce about your old Fibreflexes and Turners and Hobies... I didn't have a board in 1973 or around that date because I was born in 1984. But I really love hearing about and seeing pics of old...
