If someone was to be eliminated from his/her race because they were coneheading on their way back up the hill, that would be LAME. I'd bitch about that. But it ain't gonna happen. We could define it more clearly: Anyone not ready to race because they're in their car with a wrench, drill, a large bag...

This is a great discussion. While there seem to be a lot of views on how to actually do it (spacing, pitch, latitude(!?), etc) I think everyone agrees that none of us will actually break the current record in our feeble attempts. There are just too many factors to consider if that were the point of ...

You could probably pace out 100 cones in 5-10 minutes. With 2 guys, it takes no extra time for one to follow the setter and put a small mark where the cone should be. (full circle not necessary) This definitely helps the cones go back in place faster and keep things moving much better than having to...

Ah Troy, sorry I didn’t see your reply til now……just got back from skating 2 different courses at 2 places with Senior Gilmour …And yes, one was a 100 cone dash. Damn, 100 cones looks unbelievable when you’re actually looking at it and JG sure tore it up. I timed him (stopwatch) at 20.86 with about ...

I tried the washer idea once. It's a good one, but I think it's important to practice with obstacles that are the same size as the base of a slalom cone. At Morro Bay, I heard that Hutson and maybe a few of the other Santa Cruz racers (Miko?) use rubber discs cut to about 6" in diameter. This sounds...

I originally intended to ride my 36" Pocket Pistol with wide trucks. I never thought I'd ride it in tight or hybrid courses. I was wrong. I thought that a 129mm RTX or S and a 127mm TTC would be the ideal. I'm still yet to try that set up because the thing feels so right with a 106mm RTX and a 101 T...

Vlad, the RedBull race was great. I was one of the few that opted out based on my complete lack of experience in that relm. (wuss) But I'm certainly gonna learn to ride that stuff soon as it looked like pure fun. I'll be lookin' for some coaching from the DC guys at Vans on the 16th....join me in th...

My new Roe "Unlimited" has quickly replaced my other race boards. I have it set up with a rad pad and RTX in front and a TTC in back set low and wedged *very* slightly with a cut pad. I Think bushings are key to any setup for a specific rider. TK suggested a while ago that when tweaking bushings, us...

Damn, John, you sure do give a lot of info on transportation to your swanky spot. You didn't even post that much on the Boston race! Seriously, Saturday, Sept. 28th is realistic. Lets focus on one day when most people can make it and we'll (I'll) look forward to your coaching. Name the day (not 3) a...

Adam, I recently picked up a 36" Pistol from Chicken. He was generous enough to offer one to racer with the fastest time at da farm this year, and the rain came just in time for me to secure it. (If it was a sunny day, someone else would likely have won it.) My exact board is the one on the left in ...
