Are the Worlds in Hood River too far and expensive?
Please consider coming to the US September 18th for the Antrim NH race. It is a Main, so you get the important internet points! It is an easy drive from Boston, NYC, Newark, Montreal, and a couple other airports. I can find you a ride. It's about 1.5 hours from the ocean and good surf breaks. You ca...

Gerry, Please let Liam and Rory know they won the kid's division. Prizes will come in the mail. All my friends, Thanks for taking Liam and Rory under your collective wing. Liam got home and said to his mom, "I have discovered the awesomness that is skateboaring. I have found my calling." I wish we c...

Thank you Rob. Great time! Nice spot, but I noticed there are security camera everywhere. We need to keep this spot for Sabath only skating. Nice to see Bob after so many years. Noah broke the NJDB curse, congratulations. Glen Chapman is lways the nicest guy, glad he made that long drive. Got plenty...

Joyce, It's not about trashing you. It's about keeping you safe. You went to a race. You didn't feel safe. You didn't run. That is exactly what I am talking about. I'm happy to use another example. If the kid who snapped his leg at Urban Waves showed up, or anyone I had never met. They would get the...

Joyce! Please don't misquote me. What i did say is that I think it may be irresponsible for someone running a race to allow a racers who's skill level is sub-par to participate. And that them, getting seriously hurt would have braod reaching ramifications. You ran into a PARKED CAR. Right? It wasn't...

Just when slalom is taking off again, that's too bad. Ironically, the best place to sell it would be at a race. Head over to Silverfish's slalom board and do a little fishing in the "what, a possible race" thread. A whole lot of guys got turned on to slalom in the Chicago area last weekend. Price? I...

Wesley, I think that's a sensible answer, but pragmatialy needs to be coupled with a promoter's right to waive the restriction. Under this rule Bob Skoldberg, Scoot Smith, and Tony Alva would need to be turned away. I see it as a rule that helps protect the promoter (sponsors, town, etc) and encoura...

Zach, I may be the biggest dick in this sport :-) To be complete though, not every rider I've questioned got turned down. Some got coaching and then rode. Others got equipment loans. The few people I have turned away were invited to participate in other races the same day. IMO it is whats best for t...

Joyce HAHAHAHAHA - It thought you hit a parked car. HAHAHAHAHA. Why should you have to pay for a car that pulled in front of you at a sanctioned race? Wesley, There is more than one example of a queered venue in this century, but the best one for my purpose is when Brian Morgan rolled down a ramp an...

Re: JISSA Omudsban
Joe, would this or something like it be a good one stop thread to post stuff for your consideration or do you prefer a different approach? Brian, I've asked for email or PM's here. It's my thought that people may be more willing to broach these delicate subjects in private. Actual official complain...

I was/am serious. When I first started racing i went to races where i just didn't belong. See my footbrake at Farm 02 for evidence. Steve from AZ raced at the Bear, 03 maybe? Skull fracture at the first transition. Maybe he should not have been there. Now you have to be approved to race at the Bear....

Re: Too early
I feel that we are at a point in our sport where we probably need to decide if we want to continue with the "open" nature of the World Championships or move to some type of "qualifying standard". The racer part of me wants to stay with the open style of event, the organizer side of me wants to see ...

One of the things that struck me about what Greg Fadell had to say was that the ISSA should have been aware of the issues in Hood last summer. While I agree that would be a goal, I don't know if it is realistic. I was on the BOD previously and did not have time or opportunity to poll racers for issu...

Rule #0.0 No fighting on the internet. Show up, race and if that's not enough, put a clock radio in a pi...
