Also those Kindles

Amazon kindles are cheap and easy to read in bright sunlight with tremendous battery life. They will only get cheaper as time goes on.


We just need someone to re-write the firmware/software on these units to repurpose the hardware for racing.

It also occurred to me... that with so many different operating systems and hardware systems.. perhaps we need fully enabled web based model. MAC/PC/Linux/Unix/S30/iPhone 4.01 etc. it just would not matter. That way there is only one software set to upgrade. So cool would be that even with a rudimen...

Series are important..

I would suggest using Needham educated course setters. Those boys set some exciting courses that are suitable for all levels....they let talent shine at high speeds but are makeable for everyone.

One of the best things about Apple devices is that they are superseded so quickly by newer devices. (This means in 2 years an original iPad is worth about $125) The other great thing about apple devices.. is that they are also supported for a long time- and can endure many operating system upgrades....

The slalom skate scene in Brazil is heating up... I used to run cones down there. They have insane hills leading up to Campo Grande skatepark from Rio. When to criddle..sometimes not at the speed robbing gate..sometimes the cone before- so you don't skid (automatically lose .2) and have a better line to run the next section. Sometimes promoters put the timing tape to one side of the cone. But if you criddle the last cone (say you are falling off the line from over pumping...struggling to catch your opponent) you could end up with no time..IE you might run over the timing wire but not the pressure tape.... it has happene...

Think of it this way. Professional purses are the scholarship fund for top racers that allow them to continue their slalom education. You need to cover the cost of racing for the top guys. This is the way to do it. Cone off the wrong side. But leave enough room for a board to pass on the wrong side....just barely.. in case some racer decides to criddle the first cone. Anyone remember Don O'Shei's courses? and mind you... for the end it is also not a bad idea so racers are sure to pass...

A criddle is just an ordinary cone penalty. Without the penalty... you must not have entered the cone space with certainty with your wheels, board or feet and thus you were off the course...DQ.
