Brad, no trick....just muscle it, find your rhythm, and commit to the turn. Once you've run a few courses, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Gets easier the more you do it. Since your a beginner, you really should start with the cones spaced farther apart than how Wesley described. Maybe 7...

Sorry I can't speak on the physics involved, but the short and sweet answer to your question is you will get better traction in the rear using an offset as opposed to a straight axle truck, particularly at higher speeds. Steve - I like your concept with one exception; I think it should remain a 2 push(max) start. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the original concept to determine how fast you could propel your skateboard on a flat surface via PUMPING? And I agree with Wes about coming up with a set start distance....
