It's south of Rio Grande, RIGHT outside Gallipolis. It's called the O.O. McIntyre (SP?) Park District. I'll also have to show you the potential race for September (if it comes together). They want something right on campus. I'm up for rafting, but Jenny's still scared she'll be the one person to fal...

September Race?

I was talking tonight with a guy who works with the Student Life/ Activities Dept. at the University of Rio Grande here in Ohio and they're pretty interested in having a race in- say- mid-September. I told him I'd post on here and see if y'all are interested in coming here to Mothman country for a r...

I got an email from Marc and next month's race is off in Charleston. It's basically a comedy of errors, but suffice it to say it just wasn't working out. Hopefully next year. I'll see y'all definitely in October!!

My advice is give it a whirl. You won't be disappointed!

By the way, are you going to be at the Mountain State Slalom Skate? It's a great time!!!

Tonight I was able to test out the new Unlimited with some nice cone-runnery (as opposed to just cruising around my neighborhood as before) and I'm blown away!! What a great cue that is!

Dude! Order it!! Mine arrived about an hour ago. I set it up with some indys and avalons and all I can say is dang!!! Granted I only had time for a pump-cruise up and down my street, but I CAN'T WAIT to set up a nice hybrid course and "sick 'em!!"

I haven't heard much, but last I heard is that, since this is the first race, we're keeping it simple. No frills or music, just cones and a good time. I think there's also going to be a tech-skating demo in order to cast a wider net of those interested. Bahne and Gravity expressed interest in helpin...

I'm working on Jenny!! Her fear is "to be one of those people who falls out and gets stuck under the boat." Is there a website for Grassroots slalom? I'll definitely keep you posted. I haven't heard anything in the past couple days. Last I heard, Marc was meeting with the festival organizers this week to discuss the race. I think right now the big issues are timing equipment and a PA/music. As far as the party goes, I've not been to the fest myse...

Agreed

You're right. Better to drink and talk about the fun we had, anyway. I've learned my lesson from having friends over who say "teach me to skate" after we've had a few. Nothing as serious as yours, but plenty of road rash and humiliation. :-) When you come, we need to work on Jenny, too. I want to go...

Help

Marc Fuentes is putting together a race in South Charleston, WV for the weekend of August 28 and is in desparate need of guidance and timing equipment. To ease some of the stress and help the race go off, I'm pitching in, but I'm pretty clueless as to how to organize a race myself. If anyone can hel...

New wheels

OK, it's been almost a year since Dave G stoked me up on slalom and I've worn out my first set of wheels (the back ones are coned out and slide a bit too much for comfort in a hard pump). While I still love the old wheels (ABEC 11 Stingers), I'm curious as to what else is "out there" that y'all are ...

Just wondering

This isn't DC, but, except for the "pockets of slalom" nearby, this is the closest "big slalom scene." ANYWAY, since Jenny and I have discovered the aforementioned park, I have been about half tinkering with the idea of trying to throw a a race later on this summer or early fall after the wedding/mo...
