i have answered the question. i really cannot spend the $300 extra programing and setup to build a single truck that probably is not what a certian market is looking for. how many people are running randals on slalom? "changing the distance that the axle is from the pivot axis raises or lowers the r...

i agree with tk entirely about the timer saying it all.

about the offset. think in terms of roll center not pendulum. the swing of the axle while offset is good for 'making' speed.

some randal trucks have the geometry that you describe to be the "perfect pivot." i think that if you take a ride on some of those trucks you can see if it really makes a difference.

there is no such thing as a "perfect pivot point." different situations call for different geometries. changing the distance that the axle is from the pivot axis raises or lowers the roll center given a certian steering angle and offset distance. my offset distance was chosen to maximize traction wh...

yes, but just the left side.

this was done for added safety. i didn't want the axle unthreading while riding if a bearing seized.

after some time using Rev.2 it is apparent that this was not necessary.

R3. will not have left hand threads.

axles should always be fit with BLUE 242 LOCTITE.

Topic: [PVD] why turn limit screws?

this is a very important concept for my setting up my trucks. 1. turn limit screws should be set so that you can just tap the screw when cleaning the course at full speed. 2. once this is done, deck should be lowered so that the wheels at full turn have about 3/16" of clearence between the deck. thi...

[PVD] why turn limit screws?

WHEEL BITE! Plain and simple. Wheel bite not only slows you down but is a very dangerous situation that can cause a high side crash. The ground effect racing truck has turn limit screws, that when properly set, will prevent any chance of this ever happening. Other benefits of this design is the amou...

The way that wheels have traditionally been attached to the truck of a skateboard, with one side unsupported, does not lend itself to the use of titanium. Titanium is a very poor choice of materials for this task. It is quite light and sounds cool but it is very flexible. Like a rubber band or a lea...

[PVD] pivot bearings

The ground effect racing truck uses two flanged cylindrical plane bearings to facilitate its pivot action. These are the best choice of bearings for a skateboard truck since the motion is only along a single axis and merely needs to be supported along it. They provide considerable amount of surface ...

[PVD] NOT built to grind.

these trucks are for racing, not grinding.

if you want to go fast, buy ground effect trucks.

if you want to grind, buy something else.

[PVD] the high cost of fast living...

$200 for a single truck is a lot of money. I have tried to keep the cost of my trucks as low as possible but I have not compromised in quality or design. These are truly high performance items. One way you can justify buying these trucks it the modular design. 1. Different axle and hanger widths can...

[PVD] why adjustable wheelbase?

Modern skateboard racing has been getting far more technical than in past years. Very expensive foam core, composite, bamboo, and fiberglass decks with very specific flex patterns and shapes do not allow you to drill new mounting position every time you want to try new wheel base dimensions. Also, o...

[PVD] why adjustable steering angle?

In racing, every equipment advantage you have increases you chance of winning. Slalom racing is done at various speeds, cone spacing, and offsets. What works on one course may not work well on another. The ground effect truck was designed to use any steering angle relative to the ground between 0 de...

[PVD] why 8mm axles?

almost all low end trucks will use a 5/16" nominal axle diameter. sometimes these will run up to .010" undersize. this puts their diameter in the range of .3125" to .3025". the 608 bearing all current skate wheels use have nominal bores of 8mm. using an Sliding Clearence Fit they require an axle sha...

seriously,

i am happy to answer questions about my designs.

i belive that this truck is going to change the way racing trucks perform and are percieved.

now the 4" slalom truck has a 7" big brother for downhill insanity.

facinating facts about 666: * 666 is the same number backwards as it is forwards. * if you flip it over, 666 is 999. but that's not the same number as 666. * the word "sixsixtysix' has 11 letters. a prime number. 666 is not prime. all of these facinating facts make about as much sense as this contro...
