Sealed Or Shielded Bearings?
So what are you doing?
• Sealed and riding til they give up and get new.
• Shielded and doing a maintenance and lubrication routine.
Do you have the tools for working on shielded bearings? (The little gizmos for removing the retaining ring.)

Re: POST ONLY REPLIES, don't use New Topic
Nine years ago today it was raining so hard on Folly Beach you could barely see across the street. Eventually, everyone moved to the Visitor Center Bus Terminal where we interrupted somebody's wedding reception. The racing lasted well into the wee hours of the morning. Some guy (don't know who) slal...

If anyone is interested (and I know you are) I am getting my Priceline bids accepted for all my rooms on this trip for $50.00 a night in 3-Star hotels. Downtown Louisville on the way up, downtown Madison for the weekend and downtown Chicago (the Sheraton north of the river) on the way home. If you h...

Just a fantastic weekend! For me everything about all five days from Thursday through Monday was spectacular. The Daggers put on a great race in a great venue and attracted a great crowd. And all I have to say is anyone who disparages the idea of "straight" slalom hasn't tried to run 90 cones "S"d a...

Just got off the phone with Marion Karr. He's been in the ER for four hours. He was bombing a section of trail when a pine cone got him a bit squirrely. He decided to head for what looked like a bed of pine straw before bailing. What he didn't know was under the pine straw is rock. He's got a knee c...

I pick up my board, put my glove over the timer and walk behind the transmitter. And that stops the timer from recording the time for "lap 2" ? ? ? ? Does on mine. IR is line of sight. If the receiver doesn't see the transmitter (or vice versa) then there's no activation. Just be sure to do it to b...

Mark, Only two beacons are needed for head to head just like single lane. But there will be a need for two timers. Back in the old days of dinosaurs and when the oil was young TrakMate did not do anything except measure tape-to-tape times - no tone, no independent start, no false start. Just hit the...

Thanks, Steve. It makes sense now. The box transmits an IR signal across the road. A stopped timer passes a box and starts. A running timer passes a box and stops. Two boxes will suffice for one lane. Four boxes will work for dual lane but without a common start. Just two racers start, elapsed time ...

Someone please explain this to me. It's a lap timer. Meaning pass the beam and start the clock, pass the beam and stop the clock. Correct? The price is the timer and two IR boxes. Is this correct? Do I need to purchase two more boxes to make it work for slalom? One pair at the top of the hill, one p...

Well, Michael, we'll have to agree to disagree. The timing of a regular beep pattern is easily learned in practice. Hear it twice and it's down. During eliminations the aggressiveness of a perfectly timed start makes for better racing. Two skaters just standing there with a finger in their ears unti...

A few reasons Wes... I know two UK rCers who are colour blind... Also this mimics a Formula One start sequence. Actually the green light on the last light would not be correct as you don't go on when the last light lights.... But when it extinguishes after a random interval of zero to five seconds....

Mike, Not a criticism but a question: You've got five LED lights for counting down to the start. Any reason the fourth lights can't be yellow and the fifth lights green? When they were counting off I kind of expected it but then got two more red lights and the tone. Just wondering. Fantastic system ...

JBH has this on the contest calendar as of January 6 so I am going to assume it's a go. I laid off thinking about it UNTIL the Cardinals published their 2011 schedule. Good news: the Cards are AT Colorado that weekend. So, that means the downtown hotels are dry as a bone and willing to negotiate. Ha...
