Even with the hurt leg I'm looking forward to push starts. From the photos Brands hill looks to be one of the best.
It is ironic as an American to see the British wanting to leave the Union.

I realize that English has become the "common language" for many nations --ironic that in the USA Spanish might become predominate as demographics continue. I just know that the French are not as motivated to learn English. Certainly we would not expect this of the Swiss. The Prize money at the Troc...

Cornwall
I lived in Cornwall CT for a summer- lots of local thundershowers there.
I regularly visit.
I've also coached at some Prep schools in the area- of course I would like to continue this- but I'm not skating now to do so.
Cornwall UK is too far for me.

Pink is becoming a more and more manly color. I remember last year when I would wear pink I'd be made fun of like none other. Back then, wearing pink was the manliest thing you could do. Looking forward to competiting in the UK
Like I said somewhere before- There are extremely low cost flights available to the UK. Island nations with a lot of trade try and keep fares low to promote tourism and trade. The question is- a UK comp- would it be organized well enough to meet the criteria for Mains or Major status? Is the surface...

What Hans says about garnering points of UK skaters with 2 primes does make a great deal of sense. Ramp use req. for women, juniors or not?
I would expect that most women and Juniors that have already used the ramps would say it is not big deal. I am wondering if we are possibly losing some people because of apprehension over the ramps. Should these classes not use a ramp start, but start beside the ramp? I've ridden lots of skateparks ...

I wish they all could be French Rivieria Girls
I'm only trying to put a positive spin on the 2 mains for France 2 primes for UK scenario. My figuring was that it would be hard to get high points in both French Mains if you were not a top pro- you might do well to travel to the UK where there were fewer competitors and pick up extra points. So le...

I can't really consider The statuses confered as Eurocentric for a number of reasons. 1. More prime status competitions are confered to the USA (5 total vs 4 for Europe- and if you count Russia for Europe ...well then you may as well count Canada for the USA (no offense Claude, Pierre). 2. More Main...

For grass roots racing IMHO the racers are so far apart in skill that the starts have much less influence on the outcome. You pretty much have the idea. Your thoughts on changing the game to fit the start is the first place you would logically think to go to fix the weighting of the start to fit. Weighting the start might seem less "pure" than simply changing the course. The problem is that we race like a "Sprint" and ...

Re: We are horses!
I think that a race is a race from start to finish. ALL skills are important in winning a race, whether it's against a clock or another person. Window size for a suprise start
The "suprise start" is likely one of hte fairer starts as it does not allow anticipation. For a true surprise start racers should be told the start signal will chime at anytime within the next ten seconds. Ten seconds is arbitrary. But I chose it for a reason. If you tell racers that the start signa...

Choosing a "start window" for your timer
False start indication is a tricky thing. In order to do this properly, the start switch needs to be VERY CLOSE to the standing position of the racer. Otherwise, you are measuring not just how early the start is, but how fast the racer covers the distance from the standing start to the switch. Also...
