I don't think anyone will be planning to set a "tight" course that is a straight row of 2.5m cones. My understanding of the 2.5m limit is to allow a course with good variation to have a few gates here and there that are longer and maybe with a bigger offset. For example, a course with a reasonable s...

I would recommend not trying to shorten the board and just getting used to riding it with a big nose. It's doubtful you could recreate the structural integrity of the glass box to be anywhere near as strong as the way it was originally built. Maybe a toe stop could help you locate your front foot so...

Thanks Wes. I'm probably going to borrow some of the construction from Byrd's design. I drew Byrd's design, then raised the platform 12" and enlarged the ramp x 1.33333 to make it fit. The resulting ramp length was 8'-8", so still about 2' shorter than the one I drew. Makes me wonder if mine is too ...

Thanks for the comments Eric and Wes. I realize that the Byrd ramps are already the defacto standard, at least Stateside. I raced in both of the last two La Costas which, I believe used variations of the Byrd design. They were great. I just want to make something a little taller and longer. Two othe...

I agree that a ramp should be included if at all possible. I also agree that lower-sanctioned events should not be required to have ramps. Not requiring big equipment like ramps will make it easier for small local organizers to put on small local races, but still be able to be part of the overall in...

Autumnal Equinox Race in San Pedro at Peck Park
Hey everybody, there's going to be a tight slalom race at the new Harbor Skateboard Racing spot at Peck Park. The date is September 23rd, 2007. Entry is $20 and includes a t-shirt. So far Pocket Pistols and Abec 11 have agreed to sponsor. Skaterbuilt will likely be sponsoring as well: http://www.ncd...

Thanks for the links. It seems to me that a minor elaboration on what constitutes having "missed a cone" might be in order. If Kevin passed the cone on the "INSIDE" (the wrong side of the cone), touched the cone and it moved 1/2" (not outside the circle), and not tipped over --- then that's not a Criddle at all. That's a DQ! Unless I'm missing something ........ Pat, you're saying that if he had hit the cone slightly ha...

I saw Kevin Dunne pull the most amazing criddle today at the Peck Park race. The prevailing strategy of the course was to criddle this one nasty offset on the top section, to set up for the following drop-in section with a better line. Kevin went neatly inside the cone and ever-so-lightly touched it...
