Wes,
Bring it on. It won't even be close.
You've never seen me skate...but I've seen you.

Hi Wes, Yes, I would love to have seen more actual racing. The feature on Duane was part of the deal with Vision who put up sponsor dollars in the 5-figure range, the Redbull commercial was the same deal they put up 4-figure money. Hopefully, we will able to secure one big sponsor for the next year ...

Vlad, Yes, classes will help the sport grow. I applaud Gary, John and Juluis. Remember a week or so ago when I was jawing with Wes about the difference between traditional sports and skateboarding. One thing that's for sure is that practice without the chance of competition becomes very boring no ma...

If that what Vlad means, I see it as more of a scheduling issue, not the number of races. As I said we need more races not less. Sometimes people will just have to make a choice about where to race...if we have that situation at the local level next year, I won't consider it a problem. I'm sure that...

Vlad - I thought of starting a new discussion topic called “What do we do to cut down the number of races next year?!” You can't be serious. Slalom needs to have at least triple the races held last season. I'm not talking FCR style races. We need local amatuer races. I have done many local races wit...

Thus, Fox has decided that for their satisfaction we peform in an extreme sport. Doesn't their recognition make you feel all warm and gooey inside? EXTV ...

This post has been too long in the making. Over a year ago Andy Bittner approached me about accepting the post of President of the USSSF. At the time I was concerned with possible conflicts of interest. Since then I have decided that what is most important is the continued growth of slalom. I believ...

John, I hope you're wrong. The traditional sports athletes that I knew when I lived in Iowa were very interested in and supportive of my skateboarding. As I was reading John's post it was refreshing to see how he referred to his own experiences. It's frustrating when someone lumps all the members of...

Just a guess, and I apologize if I am incorrect. I have participated in traditional sports as a player and coach for most...

100 Cone Challenge - San Luis Obispo, Calfornia By the time I arrived at the Prefumo Canyon hill, Howard already had the course set. It was mind-boggling to see a 100 cones stretching down the hill, much more impressive than I imagined. The Prefumo hill is fairly shallow, no more than a 2% grade wit...

Ok, the central coast crew is going to give this 100 cone thing a try this weekend. Here's how were going to run it. 25' push, timing lights will be positioned even with the first and last cone and 1/10 second per cone penalty. The area we will be using has a slight grade, so will not be in the flat...

Vlad, The Guiness documentation is not specific to slalom. It is explains the requirements for witnesses, submitting, etc. I think a good plan would be to have everyone who competes in the 100 cone challenge from various parts of the world submit the paperwork to Guiness. It would make the record loo...

Hey fellows, this does sound like fun. We have a spot here on the central coast where we can give it a try. One suggestion I would make is to have a limited push, be it 25', 50' or 100'. Chris, We would have loved to had digital readouts this year. However, after spending $18,000 on the timing system, we couldn't afford the additional 8K for the displays that would work with our system. I do get weary of racers telling me what racers need. Please remember I was a racer once also. We...

John, you have now found another forum to state your opinion...I would only ask that you get the facts correct. Regarding La Costa, I did indeed set the "Tight Slalom" course. Yes, cone spacing on this course was not the Euro standard of 6'. The hill was very fast. If I had set a "real" tight course...
